well let me start by saying this is not meant to be an anti cp-e thread by any means. this is info based on my experiance with tis flash on my car for the past few days.

well i honestly expected a huge gain form this mod. i thought with all my other goodies, escpecially the reworked turbo, this would take my car to the next level. well it didnt. my car does not hold boost any better than it did before. not even 1 psi. in fact my boost pressure dropped with the flash. i had to adjust my MBC to raise it back to my target of 19-20. after a few adjustment and not seeing my boost raise i wase like WTF ??? i looked at my MBC and it was wide open !! seriously, so i am running the turbo for all its worth and it cant produce over 20psi !! i do see a quick spike to 21-22 in 5th or 6th gear but thats it !! and it doesnt hold it at all. my opinion is that for a car with a stock turbo or even a reworked unit, it just isnt worth the price. thats my opinion for what its worth.

That's why I am sticking to suspension mods.
For me ms cai and test pipe, exhaust has enough power.

Do you know anyone with a AP?You should give it a try and see how it works for you. That suxs to hear this tho since you do have alot of nice mods and you should be tearing up the street...I had a WS6 try to show me who was boss last night and lets just say he got a good look at my tailgate more then 1 time...(evil)

If you ever want to come down my way I will let you try out my AP for the hell of it..These msf maps make the AP worth the money for a change..

Thx for posting tru-boost ... most times you never hear the non-positive impressions from users so it's good to see someone say it like he sees it.

cp-e is being very cool about it and really trying to make it right. but i dont think it is them or the flash to blame. i think even my modded turbo just isnt capable of making more boost. which just so happens to render this a useless mod for me.

Wow, so you can confirm what Cobb has said all along, that with the stock turbo, wide open throttle does nothing.

What brand mbc do you have? Generally speaking your mbc should be fully closed (not reccomended) for full boost not "wide open".

I remember hearing somewhere that the stock turbo is only good for about 20psi. You're right, maybe the turbo being reworked increased flow, decreases spool time, etc, but can't give you higher pressure. Think it's time for a larger snail and internals.

npe not on this turbo. spoke to PG though. a
gt2871 is in the near future fellas !! and from the cars i've seen with it. you dont need no stinkin flash !! on stock ECU it will hold OVER 22psi all day long !!

So you've kind of stopped trying to get the flash to do what its advertised to do and basically these turbo's just wont cut it to redline?

Tru, I am not using a boost gauge while driving so my opinion is poo. But I can rev to 6800 in 2,3,4, whereas I could not without wheezing earlier. So messing around with bolt ons and the throttle position, I found if I back the throttle off abit around 5600 or something and gently reapplying at 6000 it will run with what feels to be pwer to me. The car does not like full throttle to go fast, it seems

i've talked to more people who have the reworked turbo from us and we're seeing much better results than what tru-boost is seeing here. i'm really feeling the one he has from us either has gone bad or been a dud. being that his was the #1 or #2 one we had the machine shop put out, there maybe something in his thats just not right. i know after the first three we had some revisions made to the process to better it overall.

just to be sure i emailed just about everyone who has installed it and sent me back thier cores and universally they are pleased. two guys are running 20+psi to 6500/7000rpms on the unit.

so, if the unit is bad i'd gladly replace it. or if tru-boost wants to go bigger we'll help him do that do. i know that he and i have spoken about this, i just wanted to go on record and say that as well.

I sure hope it was a dud. I'm planning on going the same route and want to be in the 20psi range throught the powerband. I've read many good reviews. I am actually considering picking up an ebay turbo so i can send it in without my car being down.

I am contemplating a 2871 too. Was thinking 3071 for a while but i think the 2871 will suit my purposes better :)

i think there is one on ebay right now for less than $100

as for the 2871, i am real surprised more people have not gone with it. we get a lot of requests for the 307x and 35r but i think most builds will be well served by the 2871.

yep i'm keepin an eye on it. my ms6 was puffin smoke the other day after about 15minutes at idle but i drove it then couldn;t get it to do it again. have to get it to smoke in front of the wifey to justify getting a new one.
