Hi everyone,
As some of you already know, my car was left with Tripoint for a few weeks for them to develop their turbo.
Well, I got my car back last night and I must say I'm amazed. I haven't had a chance to time it or anything, but I can easily hit 60 mph in a matter of seconds while still in third gear. I got a basic run-down from Mark, the engineer @ Tripoint & he said when he first dyno'd the car, it showed at about 98 hp at the wheels. After the turbo was installed, the dyno shows being 168 at the wheels (i think, need to double check, but it was a 160+ figure) - boosting at 8psi. I'm not a huge car-guru, so I can't exactly verify what he said, but from looking at the papers & his explanation, that's what it shows. He said that a conservative to fair estimate would range the car at around 210hp.
Anyhow, I have to say I am really impressed. The car has that little "jump" in 1st gear because of all the power. The only thing is that I had the clutch & the flywheel swapped out just to make everything kosher. I figure, no point in doing it halfway.
That's about all I have for now is my experience on driving it for half a day. As soon as I get some official info from Tripoint that I can put up here, I'll get scans up. I'm also trying to find some time to get pics of the engine & I'll throw them up as well. Tripoint took a lot of pics & as soon as they get a hold of their Webmaster, they'll go up on their site. I'm sure they'll be able to give you some hard info & specs. Or just give them a call @ 818-348-5385. You can ask for Mark or Craig. You'll probably have an easier time of getting a hold of Mark, I think, tho. Honestly, you'll probably get better info from them than me since I'm not proficient under the hood.
The current ETA is about 1 month until "mass-production" availability...give or take a bit.
Zoom, zoom, indeed.
Tony
