UPDATE, Friday, March 14:
I have some good news. I talked to the shop today and although the official estimate hasn't gone through yet, the shop guy told me that when the adjuster saw the car on Wednesday he was optimistic that it would be fixed! So looks like I'm gonna get my baby back! And with some careful planning she's gonna be better than ever (evil)
--------------------------------------------------
So I busted the car today...

I was driving behind B and Zack on the way to a photoshoot/hang out site and we were driving down a hill that curved to the left. There was water on the left-hand side of the road that crossed the road and continued along the right-hand side of the road as the road curved to the left (see pics). The water turned out to be black ice.
B was first and made it over the ice and came to a stop, and Zack followed. I was last in line and since both cars were stopped on the other side of the ice I had nowhere to go. I definitely didn't want to plow into the other cars (especially since Zack had his 2 y/o daughter in the back seat) so I swerved to the right, rode up the curb onto some more packed ice and snow and luckily hit a tree instead of going over the ravine down the hill.
I'm fine; the airbags didn't deploy, and the collision with the tree was surprisingly soft. I didn't get whiplash or hit my head on the steering wheel or anything. The car just slid, hit the tree, and I was like, "oh s***. ok...turn off the engine...get out of the car..." It could have been MUCH worse!
Here's a professional illustrative simulation created by a graphic artist of what happened (for those of you who are more visual learners):
So here are some pics of the road and the damage to the car:

Damage:

fruck that's the non-fouler from the headers...

uh oh...

after getting towed back onto the street:

Damage-wise, I'm not really sure if the car is totaled or not. Either way the more important thing is that I'm fine, B and his wife Jess are fine, and Zack and his cute 2 y/o are fine. From what I can tell the front bumper, msp lip, radiator, both headlights, hood, and the black bar thingy in front of the radiator are all fubared. The engine still started up after the collision, but I have no clue about the frame or suspension. That O2 sensor hanging down with the non-fouler from my AWR headers can't be a good thing...and the exhaust pipe is trying to escape out the back of my car.
All in all I'm just glad everybody's ok. If anybody has any tips on how to deal with car insurance claim departments, send 'em my way. I'm being incredibly wishful and hope this will go down as a comprehensive claim since the black ice caused me to hit the tree, and by using my madsick driving skillz I avoided hitting two other cars with passengers in them. I have State Farm.
I also need to find out how to get the insurance company to let me have my car back to take off the aftermarket parts and reinstall the stock parts if they decide to total the car. Anybody know how to deal with insurance companies on these issues? (uhm)
Also, please no immature "you should have done this you should have done that" smartass remarks. We weren't going over the speed limit when this happened and (gtfo)
