tree: 1, p5: 0 - p5 curse strikes again (PICS)

did the policeman write a report? what'd it say? things like it was unavoidable, bad conditions caused it, etc..., are a good thing to have for insurance reasons. those pictures are good too

He wrote a report and gave me the accident information summary, which lists where the accident happened and my address and my vehicle's information. woo hoo. I have to send in $8 to get a copy of the whole report (huh), which I'm doing today.

I'm so sorry to see this Jeff! Your poor little P5. :( Glad you're okay and everyone else involved is okay too...I think Mazdas have something innate where they take the brunt of the damage to keep their owners safe.

Here's hoping that the insurance process goes smoothly and you're back on the road asap...

Dude, your car grew a tail! lol. Did you get a chance to peep under the hood to see how your motor and everything shifted back 1-2 inches? The mounts give out? Or did they get ripped off?

This really sucks!! Def. keep us posted on what happens next!! I don't know if I'd buy it back though if the motor is f'd. Unless you have a spare garage bay to totally part it out in. Either way, I do hope all works out well for you!!

Oh gosh!!!! I'm sorry about your accident Jeffrey. :( I know how much care you put into that car and to see it like that hurts like heck... but it's just a car. I'm thankful that you and the others were able to walk away safely and unharmed.

Just out of curiosity what road did the accident happen on? It looks like a road off Rt.4 near Harwinton.

The cop was being a dick. he said that He was following too close, which I said was BS and he was said well no one else had crashed and I said DUH cause we've been flagging them all to slow down. There was a chick in a Bimmer who can FLYING through there. if we hadn't slowed her down, she would have plowed into him.
There was a really cool family who lives right next to the corner, and they told us that it happens all the time and the town doesnt' do anything about it. if this goes to court, we're definetly getting them to give us a statement

Just out of curiosity what road did the accident happen on?

sorry to see the car messed up jeffrey, but like you said no one got hurt...it looks like it can be fixed, but they'll do the ole "what's it worth and what will it cost to fix" depreciation is the key word here! good luck man!

Callie also says she's glad to hear you're ok and very sorry to hear about your car!!

thanks all. The accident happened on Gillette road in New Hartford. The cop was being a dick but I'm going to contest the ticket he gave me in court. I'm gonna fight this thing tooth and nail if I have to!

I talked to the repair shop today and they said they would work with me on allowing me to get the aftermarket parts off and the stock parts on, if the car is totaled. He also said the car probably wouldn't be totaled due to the low miles and the fact that the airbags didn't deploy. From the initial look of things he said repairs will be about $5k he things. There's a sliver of hope...

I also peeked inside the engine bay a little today through the sides of the hood since the latch won't let go of the hood. I could only see the passenger side motor mount and it didn't look like it was messed up. It was still attached and everything. It may have been torn, but I couldn't really see it all that well. I could see any of the other motor mounts. The radiator is touching the AWR headers though, and the O2 sensor got ripped off the header, so maybe the header took the brunt of the damage? (shrug)

Headline: Man saved by quality aftermarket construction
...AWR - Isn't YOUR life worth it?

Jeff, we will gladly form a picket line at your hearing!

following to close??????????(chair) they were stopped on the side of the road and you avoided major trouble, maybe even injuries!

just got off the phone with insurance...since it's a single car accident I'm automatically at fault, which means my premiums are gonna be going up (bang)

Then one of my friends was like, well maybe your insurance will go down if you car isn't totaled because you'll be driving a car that has been in an accident, thus depreciating the value of your car. I was like, ummmm...is that a good thing? (hand)

In my experience cars with prior accidents have had higher premiums. I guess the insurance company fools think that if money has been paid to repair a car once, ten you should pay more for insurance if you expect to be covered against any further potential damage. I have seen this more in salvage titled vehicles but still lame, I know.

Really sorry to hear about all this.
Hope you get back on the road soon one way or another.
My Wife took our Protege over a curb in UT on an icy 90 degree left hander and hit nothing but the curb. $4500 in damage.
