Mazda 3
Sorry if it has allready been discussed but say I wanted to do a tranny swap from ATX to MTX what all would I have to do. Kuz I want to have everything sitting in my garage before I do this.

Also if there is someone on the threads who has a wrecked mazda 3 and would be willing to sale the mtx tranny and everything else i would need to do the swap... post a price or pm me or something.

You do realize it would be much easier and MUCH cheaper to sell your slushbox car and buy a new car with a proper tranny.....
 
yeah man the headache of doin a tranny swap isn't worth it... plus the large amount of $$ you are goin to spend to make it happen is way less then it would cost you to trade it in and get a mtx....
 
True but my car is paid off and I know that I dont want to go to making payments. I would just buy a lentech auto trans but it wont bolt up to our 3's engine and such. Its just like I cant really feel my left leg anymore its like it is becoming obsolete. I almost bought a miata just to be able to drive a manual again and to get feeling back.

Also what all auto tranny upgrades are out there so far for the 3.

Why wont the Lentch tranny bolt up? Did you get this information from them?
Even if it didn't bolt up doesn't mean you can't get your tranny rebuilt. The Focus and Mazda3 auto tranny is the same. It would cost you about the same to do a swap anyway.

Easiest and cheapest way to do the swap would be to fine a totalled Mazda3 and buy it and swap pars over. You will need alot of parts including the ECU, wiring harness and pedal assemblies.
It would be very hard to justbuy part by part.
 
They told me that the only thing that they make that will go into our atx is the valve bodies. I also asked if the focus tranny that they make would bolt up to my engine and they said that some bolt pattern is different.

Here is the exact email they sent me about the parts that would carry over to the 3 that they make.

For the time, hassle and expense, you should just get a different car.
Find a used mtx car of the same year at a dealer and the place might do an even swap, since the atx car is worth more. Maybe they'll charge you a little cash but a LOT less than you would spend on parts.
 
Just out of curiosity about how much $ would it take to do the swap. Kuz if its over 5 grand then ill just stick with my ATX and fix it up a bit.

I mean my ATX 3 ran a 16 flat at the the tracks in louisianna and after the underdrive pulleys I am hoping to get a little peak into the 15's maybe or is that a stretch.
