Tranny help please!

I tried look up my problem but could not find much info so here we are. Last week I was down shifting from 4th to 3rd when the gear felt slightly more stiff then slid into 3rd. I could not get it out of 3rd afer that, luckily I was able to crawl the rest of way home. One it was parked, I was able to move shifter between gears. My problem now is that the tranny seems to be only going into 3rd and 4th ( at least catching gear ) and able move forward. 1st 2nd 5th and reverse just begin to diw when clutch is let out. The car is also grabbing a gear while in nuetral ( am actually able to drive in nuetral). Just replaced the clutch, the old one was pretty worn. I am thinking the that with the old clutchild being bad when I downshifted, perhaps it wasn't fully disengaged when the gear change happened and messed something up internally? I apreciate anyone taking the time to read this long ass post and hope we can get to a solution other than a tranny replace/rebuild.

Sorry but it sounds like the trans needs to be opened up to repair it, the 3-4 shift fork is likely damaged or the pin holding it broke/backed out. If you have the means to pull the trans and repair or replace it you can do it relatively cheap but if you have a shop rebuild it it will likely cost at least a couple thousand bucks.

I am the destroyer of cars -- literally. When I had a transmission go out I noticed a lot of difficulty shifting into 1st while stopped and keeping the car in gear (it would pop out, I once had to hold it in gear from San Diego to San Francisco before I ended up replacing it). In my case I was losing fluid when I drove the car and the syncros were shot. I found most shops do not want to rebuild manual transmission, ever. I had to purchase a rebuilt transmission from an auto wholesaler, which took that car out of commission for awhile. If I had known prior that no one would rebuild the damn thing I would have bought a replacement sooner. Checking and adding fluid when necessary bought me some time in my case, but it was still shot.
