I doubt you did any harm to it. The car is designed to prohibit you from going into reverse while in 5th gear. But yeah ,I've grinded my gears many times, espcially when its cold out, I HATE winter!!!!! Also, first weekend i got the car, my dads like wow, i wanna try it, and hes a pro at driving manual, but what does he do, grinds the gears. lol No harm done though, just little scratches on the synchronizers. Note: dont rev the engine up to 5k-6k while its cold. very bad.. let it warm up sloowwwly first and most importantly, why were you so pissed???

i drive a 03 P5 tranny isnt crap, i was wondering actually if i would change to synthetic tranny oil would help? anyone know?

It helps out alot.
i have heard of people using Pennzoil synchroshift. they claim that it is ok. but dont care for pennzoil products after what happend to my F250 (long story).
i use BG snychroshift 2 with the LS2 additive package and my transmission is so much
smoother. check out www.bgprod.com this stuff also prevents deposits from forming inside if your transmission. i have also noticed about a 6mpg gain on the hwy and about 4-5 in the city.

dam nice, might just try that. i was thinkin about addictives to put in, but didnt trust it so i used start gear oil. might try it though.

From the BG site:
BG Syncro Shift II is a gear lubricant specially formulated for front wheel drive manual transmissions. It does not sacrifice any performance as does engine oil, ATF or conventional gear oil. It provides required thermal stability, low-temperature fluidity, hot rattle suppression, noise dampening at operating temperature, outstanding extreme pressure characteristics, shear stability, smoother shifting characteristics, wear reduction (synchronizer, gears, bearings, shift fork), seal compatibility, and reduced maintenance costs. This product is a part of the

Yeah I put Redline Synthetic on mine after I heard grinding from the cheap stuff Jiffy lube put and a week later I drove around with a big smile. I takes about 1-2 weeks for it to take affect incase you go with redline.

Out of the following:

1) redline
2) royal purple
3) Motul

Royal Purple was the best. I may go back to it later on.

i had GM Synchromesh in mine and i loved the way it felt. shifted smooth and never had a hard shift when cold. worked great. can be bought at the parts counter of pretty much any gm dealership. I bought was about $4 or $5 a quart

my reverse always gives me a litte problem when I want to actually put it into reverse. I usually have to pull really hard 3-5 times to get it in

dam that sucks, ya i have royal purple... not bad stuff, but not that great either. i got it from a freind for 7 bucks a quart not bad. but redline i think is still better.
