Just wanted to throw out this question I can't seem to get it fixed. Over 18 months ago I had an ACT clutch and Fidanza Flywheel installed. Everything was fine but I did notice one problem. Whenever I sat in heavy traffic for long periods of time 25-30 minutes are when its very humid/hot,y car has a tough time going into gear. Never had it before the install and the guy who did my clutch and flywheel looked over the car and pulled the tranny twice and still could find no answer. Does anybody have an idea's. In the winter time it never happens, only in the summer or heavy, heavy traffic. It never really bothered me becuase I drove the car so infrequently, but know it bothers me.

Some tranny place told me it may be a hydrolics problem, funny thing is as soon as I shut the car off it goes into gear like butter. This is confusing the s*** out of me????. So if you have any suggestions please let me know. My cars at the shop right now but I like to tell them something if anybody knows something.

Thanks

By the way the only thing I could think of as to why this is happening is my high flow cat is Fxxxx, possibly its generating so much heat its causing a tough time shifting, other than that I am out of answers. The cats been going bad since it was installed, some pieces melted inside from the heat generated.Thats next on the list for repair

i was going to say hydrolic problem due to extreame heat and the fluid boiling up and not performing the way it should........had a similar problem with my old saab and i believe it has something to do with the slave cylinder......

i have had no problem with my CM clutch and lightweight flywheel for the past 15 months (20K miles)......the clutch does get mushy in the extream hot temps in traffic, but there is no problem shifting or anything.......

mine does the EXACT same thing i literally have to force it into first gear, and it only does it when it seems to be hott, i have no idea what it is either.

I was going to say maybe the tranny fluid is over-cooking and loosing viscosity. You may also want to try double-clutching to get into first. You can do it at a complete stop and it helps.

Depress clutch.
Put in neutral.
Release clutch.
Depress clutch.
Put into first.

I always double-clutch first in every car since that seems to be the most finicky gear in most cars.

Check your shifter bushings too, they may be expanding so much due to the heat that they are binding. But thats probably a long-shot.

ya mines like that too. i just do double clutchin most of the time. sometimes it does get into gear even if u want to shove it into gear, so i double clutch n it works. i think my trany fluid is crap too. problay goin to change it if i can.

Thanks for the suggestions, Hopefully my mechanic had some idea's. The idea of the shifter bushings may be the probelem though, they are right near the high flow cat which gets real hot. I will also try the double clutching as well. Thanks

you kno come to think of it.....when its hot you have to like shove it into first gear :\!?

Yeah, same here. This is my first car that has a manual but I can only think of one time that it has smoothly gone into first. I just thought i wasnt putting the clucth in all the way. It doesnt really bother me that much though

If you match the revs it'll slide in smooth as butter. You'll know when you did it right. I think our syncros are just weak :(

I just washed my car and i had to put in reverse and i was barefoot but the clutch was all the way in and it was givin me s*** about goin into reverse.
