10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

I find your post funny. I am a new christian(I was saved earlier this year it was not by people witnessing to me though it was through an experiance that I had no control over and it turned out ok) and am batteling with some of the things your post mentioned. It is sad that there is truth to your post. I guess everyone has a right to there own opinion on religion. I for one enjoy learning about the bible and discussing others opinions on the bible. I don't get mad when people don't agree with my views because like I said everyone is entitled to there own view. But I am curious to see where this thread goes.

Religion was created to supress the unknown in the "Dark ages". But its benefits are will know today. It teaches ethic, hard work and believe. It also builds common intresting along a group of people. I mean come on why we gotta push our own religion on to other people who already has a religion. Or even kill others who are different in belive the ourself.

Religion today as a major factor in world politics just severs as a barrier from uniting all people, just like race, gender and car ownership. Can't we all just get along?

For the time being I'm still agnostics.

Some of these are over generalized. Christianity is pretty broad. I was baptised protestant but consider myself an atheist. However, protestants and catholics are at opposite ends of the spectrum. The holy trinity, people becoming saints, etc...

I would love to explain. I used to travel alot for work, and I suffer from social anxiety problems and I also suffer from panic attacks. Not just your little o crap ones but full blown freak out panic attacks. I was out of town on buisness which is always out of my comfort zone but I need to pay the bills somehow. I was in a hotel room all alone away from my wife and daughters when I felt a panic attack comeing on because of an event the next day that had me stressed out. I had been struggling with the whole religion thing for a few years and I really used to question gods presence. There is a point of no return with panic attacks where if you get to that point you are screwed and just are giong to have to battle it out. Well I was at that point in my room and I had tried everything to calm down and nothing worked (I do not take meds because I believe I can deal with these things on my own though sometimes I wish I did take meds) so I decided at that point to pray so I began to pray while laying in my bed I prayed the prayer of salvation when I said A-men a strange calm came over me my body went compleatly relaxed and I drifted off to the deepest sleep I had ever slept. In the morning when I woke up I felt like a new person. It almost felt as though god himself had reached down and comforted me at my lowest point. Since that day I have been baptized as a believer and have not had another panic attack. Now I know people may think I am just nuts but hey thats my story and I don't mind sharing it with others. Sorry this was a little long.

its just like when you were a kid .... your parents told you .. "if you get out of bed one more time ... the boogie man will get you .... same thing . you believed it didnt you ...well same thing applies here .. but they throw it lots of set up to fail things in your way. I think that Al Pacino put it best .. an absenty Landlord .... look ... but dont touch .... touch... but dont taste, etc ... and that is called temptation (from the devil and Free Will from God) ... this is what as adults we try to use as the boogie man theme. to keep us in line ... be careful .. the big dog is watching ... he sees, hears and knows everything ... which in my expiriance in Christianity ( as well with other religions) "willfull sin" is a b**** ... gets us everytime .... i mean shoot, he is even supposed to know our every thought ... if that is the case ... and since he does not expect us to be "perfect" (but as a christian you are to do all possible to be as close to what he is, be like him etc) why is it that simple things such as having sex b4 marrage is not acceptable, you should only live with one another after marrage, shall not be unequally yolked .. I could go on all day with the crap i have been through because of Religious beliefs .. I lost my wife, home, and almost daughter because of it .. I have even found myself dating yet another Christian which is totaly differant in her ways about it and I said to her this .. religion and differance in beleifs will always ruin a relationship when one takes it sooo far, or sooo serious. i mean .. personaly ... I do not think a cool way to start off your Sunday is to get up at 8am get all dressed up and go to a place full of people always trying to out do the other and people you dont even know. talking about something you dont really understand. not my idea of a sunday morning. If anyone has been to church and you know who I am talking about .. there is always one or two right near you that let out with Blood curdeling Screams from start to finish of a prayer, speech, or song. i mean really cmon people .. who wants there Sunday to start out that way .. ..Blink blink .. <--(o )(o ) ( o)( o)--> looks around .. anyone still here ... sorry .. i couldnt resist .. i got soooo much more but i am really not here to offend anyone or ruin this thread .. I think its about time we get a really good thread going where it doesnt turn to s*** .. i really hope this thread keeps going thanks for your time .. ill be here all week lol

oh yeah ..
Merry Christmas and God Bless

Very interesting........although science/medicine could explain why the praying helped you to deal with the attack.

Whatever works for you I guess.

I understand that science could explain what happened and I did not rule that out because I know that science can explain alot but at that time it felt diffrent it is really hard to describe it. But prayer is something that calms me in those times. Thanks for not being a dick in your response because I know how fueled up people can get on this topic

Slider, the christian part of me wants to hug you and tell you that even though you feel the need to try to shame/humiliate me I still love you.

The human side of me says if you were to call my religion a mockery to my face they'd be picking up pieces of your teeth for the next few days.

I guess you could say you're lucky I'm a christian. It works out good for both of us.

awesome .. thanks bro... and in all seriousness I honestly hope none takes offense to what i have said above ... these are things I have struggled with for years .. and years .. does he exist or does he not .. i am really torn on so many issues. and mostly due to how I was raised ... I was raised in a house where you didnt mention his name unless it was :god dammit , OH JESUS CHRIST ect .. you know ... but moving to Knoxville TN its a whole new world for me and I really wanted to get my own start with god with my own beliefs ect ... I have always been a "I'll believe it when I see it' type of guy and its hard to fathom there was a man that was concieved immaculatly was raised as a carpenter then he had hundreds of thousands of followers, then he was crucified for believing in his god over another and then came back 3 days later ect ect .. its hard thing to grasp ... I once asked my ex mother in law a question which really got her in a pickle .. she said to me if you want proof .. do you know what would happen if you were to dig up Jesus's grave .. she siad .. you would not find anything at all ... (proof that he rose) ... I said .. or logically thinking ... you might jsut consider the fact that he Never existed from thwe get go .. she was blown away that i said tht but she had no comment for it after ?????

A perfect example of why there is so much bulls*** in the world steming from religion.
