Either way, I hardly doubt that they'd be too light for street use, AS long as youre careful and don't runover potholes or curbs, you should be fine
 
The weight should not factor in for strength, it is the materials and method of manufacture. Some of the best wheels for our car are in the 16 17lb range. And some of the heavier wheels are softer actually.

that is an extremely generalized statement...weight absolutely will be a factor in the strength of a wheel irregardless of the material used...A heavier version of any wheel will be stronger than its lighter counterpart. I do agree though that there can be lighterweight wheels that are stronger than heavier wheels made with different material...but to claim weight or mass is not a factor in strength is ridiculous
