So I don't really know a lot about cars, but my friend who does lives by forums and he told me I should join and ask you guys for help. I have a 2004 Mazda3 Sport and I live in Flagstaff, AZ at 7000 feet. Over the weekend I took a trip down to Phoenix and everything seemed fine. The night I got back I went to the store and on my way back my check engine light came on. The next day I went to start it and it kept turning and turning without starting. Eventually it did, and I drove to AutoZone to check the code. They said the code was a system too lean at idle. The first question he asked was whether or not I went to Phoenix recently because the difference in elevation and temperature could make it do that. So I said yes and went home happy it was nothing serious.
The next day the light came back on, and because I was about due for an oil change anyway, I took it to the shop and asked them to look at the error. I told them about going to AutoZone and what they said, and they supposedly checked over everything and didn't find anything, but cleared the code (it was the same one) and said to drive around in Flagstaff for a little and see if it came back and if it did they would look into it in more depth.
Right after the oil change I went to fill up on gas because I was getting low. When I tried to start it afterwords it did the whole turning and turning and not starting thing again. I gave it some gas and it eventually started and I went home. That was yesterday. I drove to the store and back today and the check engine light hasn't come back on, but I really don't think this is because of my trip to the valley. I don't want to take it back to the shop until the light comes back on, but I am scared to drive it because I don't want to mess anything up.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
