To use Depleted Uranium or Not?

What about the possible health effects to the troops that are exposed to the dust from the depleted uranium shells? At one point I remember hearing that the "Gulf War Syndrome" (from the 1st Gulf war) experienced by returning troops might have been due to DU weapons. Who knows for sure?

It really does depend on what you read. There is still so much research being done.

One thing to note is that while DU is 40% less radioactive than natural, most places on earth don't have hundreds of tons of natural uranium laying around (like there are in places like Bosnia and the Gulf now).

That is exactly what I was thinking. I suppose long term exposure would have to have some sort of negative side effect.

Cant be any worse for me than all the cigarrettes and booze anyway.(shrug)

True enough. Maybe we should build missiles and fill the warheads with booze and cigarettes. Sure your house is gone, but you'll feel better after a beer and a cig.

That and human feces. I bet more people get sick from tons of festering human feces than tons of DU.
