Im off to the dyno. my run is at noon, gonna let my car cool off for a bit so Im leaving early. Ill do 2-3 baseline runs, video the A/F screen (wont be able to post those till at least monday, but will tell you what they are.) Then Im gonna add the K/N filter only for 2 runs.

Check back around 2 P.M. EST for the results. :D

All I have to say is that you ROCK!!! Good Luck!

Ok guys, I got issues with my Scanner, Will have the sheets up before monday ( I gotta use my aunts and she will be home tomorrow). temp was 70 degrees in the garage, with fan running in the front of car. The wideband sensor kept blowing out of my exhaust so I couldnt get a reading =\ that was one of the main reasons i went.

BASLINE: 142.4 whp @6250 RPM
142.9 lbs @3750

K/N 1st run 142.5 WHP@6250
131.1 LBS @3500

2nd run 142.1 whp@6250
135.4 lbs@ 3500
You will see in the graph where the fan kicks in and pumps hot air into the filter. It seems that the K/N is really not worth the add on. Ill make my short ram with the heat shielding, and see next time i go out. They save your baselines, so when I go out, ill rebaseline, then add each mod and run.

back to stock airbox: 143.1 whp@6250
139.0 lbs@3500
EDIT: These runs were in 3rd gear pulls. The boost spiked to 6 psi, but leveled off for duration of run to 5 psi. (told you MP3 guys (smash) )

I also did quater mile runs:
1stRun:
60 foot 2.38 @29.39 MPH
1/4 mile 15.55 @89.45 MPH

2ND:
60 foot 2.29 @28.12 MPH
1/4 mile 15.47 @89.34 MPH

3RD:
60 foot 2.22 @30.49 MPH
1/4 mile 15.01 @90.27 MPH

First 2 launches were at 3500 to 3700 RPMS
Last launch was at 4k-deffinitly the rpm to laucnh from by the 60 foot time and trap time. You will see all distance times and MPH when I post the charts.

Also for s**** and giggles, I had my baseline compaired to the guys HEavily modded RSX-S before me. (Hondata ECU, nology plugs and wires, U/D pulleys, apexi exhaust, aem intake, timning gears, no cat.) His torque never got above 105 and his whp never got past mine till about 7300 RPMs where our rev limiter is.

So should I be putting my stock airbox back on, or just get back to working on the cold-air extension for it?? Will the extension help?

Congrats. Just to confirm, your car is totally stock right? Did you experience the stumbling?
Last question, does the msp rev all the way to 7300 or is it 6500?

I do not own a MSP but I am considering one.

It was bone stock(got an hks camp system and turbo timer, but they do nothing for performance.) for the first and last run. the 2 middle ones were with the K&N Filter.

All quarter mile runs were with stock airbox. The last run i did hit the limiter in 3rd, so I think I coulda got into the 14's but woulda have to paid the hourly rate for that run. 100 bucks. Ill be dyno testing again when i get all my mods i already ordered. joe p mbc and fpr, custom short ram ( I think this will kill my torque, we will see) and my 2.5 downpipe.
Ohhh and this was a Mstang roller dynometer. All pulls were in 3rd gear, and I was peking to psi at onset, leveled out to 5 psi for duration of power curve runs.

What no boosted MP3 guys gonna chime in here ? WoW, I got 142 to the wheels man. Finding THAT hard to believe ? (sorry, just kidding you all :D ) Well there is the baseline for my car, Ill go stock again to the dyno, then ad a mod one by one. (Donations are appriciated for this, its a 100 bucks an hr for tuning) :D

why did u pull in 3rd and not in 4th:confused: (gear)
whouldn's 4th be more accurate sense it is closer to 1/1 instead of whatever 3rd is? kinda weard to see someone do a dyno in 3rd

Most dyno pulls are in 3rd gear. If its a 6 speed its in 4th. Most power is made in 3rd gear that is why they pull it for a 5 speed there.

good job boost!:D

I try Perf :D Im guesstimating that the downpipe, which added 11 whp to another members car, and the boost controller set to 9 psi, should net me at least 170-180 to the wheels.

Im just worried about losing too much torque with the short ram, as apparent with an open K&N cone filter did on my stock intake piping. It also could be attributed to the filter sitting right be hind the cooling fans. This is why Im gonna make a heat shield for it.

the only thing i can tell you and hope you heed is to keep the intake charge as cool as possible. as i think you are trying to do with the heat shield. but i would reccomend some piping out of the vehicle for ambient air. also try what joe p did with his weather stripping by the cowl. it really helped him on the hotter days.do you still have the stock IC and piping?

I still got the stock IC, and I did take my weather stripping off. The dyno runs are done with the hood up, so the weather stripping is not a factor there. Ill be directing air from the front of the car into the filter area. ITs more of a separator for the filter then just the shield like Injens.

Ill find a pic of what im talkin about and post it. :D

if you get a high performance radiator they are usually have the size and take the fan out you can extend yuor shortram like i did to the front of the car, the gain is noticable.
