I dont think I can make any of the meets manditory. Personally I wouldnt kick you our, nor would I have the power to if you didnt come to one. There was some conflict between pro mazda and myself, and 2k3mazdaspeed. All has been resolved, they have apologised, and now we are moving on.

yea thats preety much it :

Thread 1. The conflict/misunderstanding
thread 2. The aftermath/confusion
thread 3. The resolution/understanding

I know SLO pretty well, i got some friends up there. But thats at least an 8 hour drive for us SD ppl. Unless we leave at like 1AM when theres no traffic.

just more info for people making their choice: (a quote from GhostP5: (http://www.protegemp3.com/vbb230/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29015)

"Promazda Member Rules And Regulations
All members must maintain a semi-professional appearance. Cursing & fighting will not be tolerated (remember you are a representative of the club and are to act accordingly while at meets & shows).

Automobiles represented at meets/shows need to be presentable at all times.

Members will need to attend at least three personal ProMazda meets a year. You may be expected to attend large meets such as NOPI, HIN, etc.

Any or all functions including public information, contracts, sponsorships, meets scheduling or business in regards to the club with the ProMazda name will be with the authorization from a senior club officer or president only.

Any new member will be considered on a provisional trial for a period of at least 3 months until voted in by senior club members.

Any member wishing to sell personal items, such as automobile parts, to other members may do so with no more than a 10% profit over cost.

Members are required to purchase and wear a ProMazda club shirt while attending meets or promoting the club.

Any member that violates these rules or has a flagrant disregard for such may be dismissed from the club by votes from senior members.

No one wants to swing votes on anything you guys decide of course. We have been around a while and we're not just a club. Most members have benefits such as upgrades and info that you just cant get at a dealership. We've replaced struts, springs, rims, intakes, spark plugs, cat backs, you name it....for nothing. Just cause another member needed us to. All meets are NOT mandatory, just a few a year. Some of us are just more dedicated than others. We are from all backgrounds, all states, all ages and are at different levels with our mods...including just stock. Fees are next to nothing when you consider what we have shelled out for the club without people contributing. We've spent several hundreds if not thousands on the club just for meets, coordination, food, entry fees, hotels, etc. It goes to the club, not our pocket. Most of us have full time jobs, families, travel hundreds of miles, school, military... this is not just a club..it's an adventure. lol Like I said, we are not here to make decisions for you, it's your choice and we are here to answer your questions or help out in any way we can. We are once again a family, if you don't like to have a few hundred "adopted" sisters, brothers, cousins, uncles, aunts and nephews, you may not want to join...lol

i know, im just posting the "official rules" :p

i think they are pretty funny, actually. must wear shirt, 3 month trial, member ranks. feels like high school clubs. ;)

The more I read into this the more I think we should do our own thing here. I have to show up to major events(i dont even like HIN or those types of shows)?? I need to wear the shirt when we meet??? Member ranks??? I gotta get voted in???

Thanks, but no thanks.

I still say we discuss this further among Cali ppl in person.

Thanks for the links. After reading the first one I was a little pissed. I could understand how everything happened, but it's definately been delt with.

I don't really see anything wrong with joining ProMazda, but I'd rather be our own entity. I just think we should come up with something better than MPOCC.

Or maybe we could talk to ghostp5 and see if every chapter can have it's own set of rules. Kind of like how we have state and federal laws.

can i be under you steph, can i can i ???!!!
i'll be the "vice"president :D

anything alex does i will support him 100%.. cus he supports everything i do.. everyone will have their own reasons for what the want to do.. some people will want to join pro mazda for the national spotlight and the large backing of having 15000 members.. or how ever big they are gunnah be.. but u have to remember.. with that many people.. and that strict of rules.. there will be problems...but ghost seems to have that on lock down.
Now my side is.. there was a problem.. and it took way too much to get it resolved.. plain and simple.. i wont get into it because i dont want to sway anyones decisions.. i like my small groups im part of.. they feel like family to me..

So as I understand it this is finally something sort of official for us California people?

It would be kind of cool, us from the HWY 9 crew were talking about a bay area mazda club/protege club. Although we never followed through on it. Perhaps there should be a ProMazda west coast chapter with regional "sub-chapters" or whatever you want to call them, Bay Area, Los Angeles Area, Sacramento, San Diego, etc...

Natey for president of the Bay Area chapter ;)

This looks to be an interesting idea for us CAers to consider.

I'm having a good time right now keeping it informal, mainly because of the fact that I am kept on a tight leash by work, and can't usually commit to any plans or events, just because i am never sure about my workload for the month, week, or even sometimes day. Hwy. 9 crew can attest to this(Sorry for all the flaking guys. Nate knows what I mean).

So I guess I would be down for soemthing like this, as long as it could be a little less rigid then the "official rules" make it out to be. Either way, i am subscribing to this thread, and will check back.

So I guess I'm voting "I don't give a s***", not because I don't give a s***, but because I'm still on the fence on this, and "On the fence" is not an option...

I know this is a lot to read...sorry

Ok guys and ladies...I'm going to try and answer the main concerns here since there are alot of the same things being talked about.

First off, the "dues" thing. We are still discussing the amount and how often this is going to happen. It probably won't start until the first of the year. That will be the easiest time to implement it. We are not talking about a lot of money here. When you have as many people already involved as we do you don't need a lot of money from everyone to keep things going. Dues pay for things like shirts, decals, PA sytems for the meets, renting out great locations for meets, food, hotels, contingency money for winning at shows or autocross events, etc etc. I didn't like the idea of dues at first either, but I can't pay out of my pocket for everybody to have all the things that I listed above. We are here to support each other and this is one of the ways we do it.

Next...the rules. These will change now that we are getting bigger. These were set when we were just a local club and everybody saw each other on a weekly basis. Now that we have branched out its going to be more up to the regional presidents to decide how things are going to work on a local level. We will still give our input, but this is a democracy like we have said and everybody's opinion is important. I'm not going to sit here and talk about everything that we have done to get this where it is because thats not as important as where we want to go. We have to have rules to keep things organized and to keep structure. The Promazda name is licensed and protected. We can't have someone we've never met go off on a rampage with a vendor or another member and destroy our ties and ruin it for everyone else. So for the time being forget the rules about wearing shirts and meets... we know that this is going to be a changing matter.

Now the good stuff. ProMazda has a sponsorship dealer. We also are getting calls from manufactures that want to be a part of this. Having a sponsorship dealer means that you can get any Mazda parts that the dealer sells at a great discount. If you don't think this comes in handy wait till you break your purge solenoid valve like I did installing my Injen. It will take a couple of days to get things to you, but if you know that you want a Mazdaspeed exhaut or a set of pedals, you can get them at well below retail. With your own local chapter you might persuade a local dealer to spinsor you and save you some shipping time. You will get back what you put into this club.

There are always going to be people that don't want to be a part of this and thats ok. We understand that this is a lot to take in and a large commitment to make, but thats what we are looking for. We want people who are commited and supportive of there fellow friends and members. We are not here to make a living off of this. We started this to help our local Mazda community and all of us have benefited from it. We want to share that with everyone else. Please, again if you have anything you want to talk about on a personal level, email me or Mike (aka GhostP5). We are all still learning and we will have some stumbles, but I have no doubt that our current members will do what they can to make this the driving force in the Mazda community.

I will also make a quick point. This is not just an enthusiast Mazda club, we are a huge family! Im not going to say that its for everyone, but for the peple that want to take Mazda to a new and exiting level, we are here.

Alot of you say our rules are dumb and stupid, this is fine. We made these rules so the Promazda name grows and people dont hurt what we stand for in the public eye. There is not one thing that any of our members wouldnt do for one another, and this is the way it should be. We have strength in numbers, and we all stand up for each other.

Im not going to sit here and lecture you on why you should do this or that, thats not what were here to do. We are just making you aware that we ARE coming to CA and all the surrounding areas. Its not a matter of who or why, its when, and if you want to be a part of it. I will be making a trip to CA in the spring of next year. I will be seeting up a meet with Steph and you guys to talk about things and meet you all. If anyone knows me well I know ALL of our members.

So to make it short and sweet... You either want to be part of us or you dont, your choice. Dont worry well be here if and when you change your mind. Nice talking to you guys on this matter. If you have ? about joining our club, feel free to ask any one of our members.

Thanks for your time!
Mike
