Tis Not Every Day You...

Read a first post like this. I just got my brand new MS3 White GT yesterday, and this is my first brand new car ever so I am so freakin excited about it except for one thing. One thing that pisses me off to no end...... One thing that is making my life a living hell right now...... My wife had to do the deal for me (not a bad deal, she got them to come down to 24k even) so while I have been stuck here in Iraq for the past 13 months she is at home loving my car damnit! I have to wait 2 more months before I can see that glorious white exterior/touch her beautiful curves/hear that wonderful exhaust note/drool all over that sexy interior **insert massive amounts of obsceneties here** Two more grueling, long drawn out months before I can see my first ever new car that I have dreamed about pretty much all year long. Oh, and of course all my buddies are giving me crap, like oh yeah man, she's driving it everywhere, ya dude, you lost your car already, now it's her car! NEVER! hahah Why didn't I wait until I got home to buy it your probaly asking? I have read speculation everywhere, limited run of production, I know you can't order them anymore because I tried, she bought it back home in Louisiana and all they had was 1 white one and I couldn't let it go to some other unappreciative soul could I? Plus I checked around where I am stationed and they didnt even carry the Speed 3. So rather than pull my hair out trying to find a White GT when I got home and there not being any I figured I would get it now and let my wife bask in the glory of the Speed 3 (however temporary that might be) while I sit here and grind out these last 2 tortureous months. Anyway, I figured everyone has their own story of how they got their Speed and that is mine. Maybe it'll help you appreciate yours that much more!! She is supposed to be emailing me pics tomorrow so I might be able post some up? Until then, Hey everyone! Maybe share your own stories because for the next few months I have to live vicariously through my wife tales about my car and what I read here Ha!!

I'm headed home from Iraq very soon myself, and expect delivery of my Metro Gray GT in early May. Unfortunately I'll be car-less for a little bit. I bought mine from militaryautosource.com for just over $24k and did everything online with my bank. Not a bad deal. A guy in my unit got a Cosmic Blue Sport when he was on R&R and already started modding it. I don't think I'm going to do much with mine.

Bad news: It only slows down the closer and closer you get to the end. Just treat every day the same as the last.

Ya I tried to go through militaryautosource.com as well, I built a base White GT there and it came to 24,031 and the wife got the dealer down to 24k even so I saved a whole $31 dollars, haha! Well that and the guy I had talked to there said he could no longer order from Mazda, that only if I had come to him a few months earlier. My hopes were totally dashed and then I found this one dealer like 3 hours from where my wife is and he had exactly what I wanted!! Except no Nav, but it's only an exspensive play pretty just to be able to say mine is bigger than yours!! So I am extremely happy no matter even without it.

Yeah man, everyday drags a bit more than the one before it.... I walk into work each day and go straight to the drawer, pull out my marker, walk to the Calander and put a big X on each day.... I just need a nice little fast forward button for until I get home, wouldn't be nice? Ha!

As far as mods go I hadn't planned on very much and probaly will actually get done even less than that. The wife is already on me like only Mazda Turbo Certified ppl will touch this car and everytime I say something I want to do to it I get that "noise" (all married guys know what noise I am talking about). But anyway me and my boy were on youtube the other day listening to different exhaust systems and after hearing them all the Borla Exhaust system has such a sick sound IMHO. To me at least it sounds nothing like a 4 banger but what I would imagine something more along the lines of what a Porsche (a Good Porsche Not a Crappy Boxster)would sound like. That, maybe a CAI, tint, big maybe on a Blowoff Valve (Not sure if I like that sound yet or not), and maybe some new springs to drop it a hair. That would be the most I would do to it. But again all this has to pass through the wife so we will see....

Congrats!

I feel for you guys that have to wait like that . . . I mean, I had to wait like 5 days for mine and I was dying!!

As for the wife driving it, yeah, she's probably got a smile on her face the size of the grand canyon . . . I know I still do whenever I drive mine. . . Think of it like this, when you get bnack the car will be nicely broken in . . . I know, that's of little consolation . . . just trying to help (cheers)

More importantly, be safe and make it home to us in one piece so that you may enjoy these wonderful cars. I thank you and everyone else that has done there part to protect the interests of this great nation.

Congrats on the new car. I might be a freak about this sortof thing but make sure you tell her to take it easy on the car so it breaks in properly. Then yeah, after you get back home, you can just rock out in it :) :D

yeah same boat, except mine will be here in october or so when I get back from my deployment, takes a while to get it here in germany. ordered it back at the end of febuary, a metro grey mica GT, but the deployment should make the time fly by faster than if I was just waiting here

I have a similar "waiting" story...

I went to my local dealer to see the MS3 and the regular 3s. I didn't know if I could afford a MS3 as opposed to a regular 3. The dealer had 2 reds and 2 blacks; I wanted a Silver one.

I test drove the MS3 first and wow, what a car!!!! Step on the accelerator and poof, you're gone!!!! Just AWESOME!!!!
Then I got into the 2.3L Mazda3, got on the road and floored it...I heard elevator music, looked at the passenger (my GF) wondering when we were going to reach speed in order to shift... I made a u-turn and said HELL NO!!!! (lol2)

Anyway, the dealer wanted me to leave with an MS3 that day...I just was not ready. Then they tell me there is a Silver one on a ship headed to the states...arriving in about 1-1/2 months... Hmm, that would give me time to ponder and workout a budget... So, I signed and promised to purchase pending on acceptance of the vehicle; basically I was not committing to buy it until I saw and test drove it.

So, 1-1/2 months go by and I finally get the call that the car is patiently waiting for me to buy her... I go, sign, and take her home...one day later, I leave on a business trip for 16 days.... (bang)

I only got to drive it from the dealer to home and round-trip to work...

That was the longest grueling business trips I have ever been on...my car was patiently waiting in my garage all nice and safe for my return...

Not as long as you guys...but I still can relate!!!! Get home safe and congrats on the new car!!!! (2thumbs)

Haha, well your story made me feel a little bit better! Ya it sucks more because of the longer wait for us, but I think it must have sucked more for you because of the fact you KNEW what you was missing. Me? I have never driven one before so at least I dont quite know what I am missing where as I am sure you was thinking about it every waking moment! =)

yeah.... bought my Cosmic Blue back in Februray... won't get home from Iraq until June... six more weeks, baby!... i'll tell you, after all the pictures i have of the car in my driveway and all the Youtube videos i downloaded, nothing will compare to when i actually put my feet on the petals (or dry-hump the hood/roof/door/seat/steering wheel/etc.)... but as for the wife driving it, my wife is actually scared to drive it (her first time driving a turboed car)... the dealership even gave me (my wife, rather,) a military discount (or the "let's give the hot chic buying her hubby a car a discount" discount)... and i've already talked to the wife about mods... told her about the Cobb SRI, Corksport MM inserts, and shifter bushings (haven't decided on which brand, can i get some advice here?)... she was kinda skeptical about it at first, then i told her i could get all that for under $500... i think that shifted her mood a little bit... but anyway, congrats to all my brothers serving their country with me in Iraq and Afghanistan, and let's get back home safe and sound...

At least you have one!!! I'm still waiting for basic and techschool to start so I can put money down on one!!!! Make it home safe and enjoy your car man!!!

That's funny that your girl is a bit afraid of the car. This chick I have been dating said the same thing. She thinks it's too much. She says she doesn't need that much power and notices that there is a learning curve on getting the shifter/pedals to work smoothly. He he he, I like that she wants something slower...makes me sleep better at night. :)

Ya, at first my wife told me she wasn't used to the feel and power of the turbo, that and she has never driven a 6 speed before so that took her a second to get used to. But now I talked to her and she is like, "Ya, I can drive that Baby now! Is there anyway we can make the exhaust louder?" At that moment the clouds parted, light shown down from Heaven, and in the background there was that music playing Ahhhhhhahhhhh duh Ahhhhh!!! Why of course there is Baby!! Muhaha She is def blessed with the good sense of woman being sane and all that, but just enough tomboy in her to keep things fun!! Now I really wonder how hard of a time I am going to have getting my car back when I get home!!

To that guy asking about stop loss; No not me personally but I have plenty of friends who had that ultimate displeasure...

And to all my brother's stuck here with me, keep safe and make it back home!!

Congrats on your rides. Make it home safe and in one peace. And thanks for your service! USA owes all our soliders more then we can ever hope to repay.

Congrats!

Ditto. I test drove it on Saturday, drove it home on Friday. I was going freaking CRAZY waiting to pick it up.

But hey, look at it like this guys - whe you get back from Iraq you should have a few extra dollars to put into the car, right? ;) Gotta love that combat pay, oh yeah. I know that whenI get back next year, Im going to have a storage unit full of parts so that I can drive it once, then jack it up for a weekend and put them all on and then feel the difference. (drinks)

Any chance you guys will be 'Stop-Lossed'?
Stoploss only ccurs when there is a urgent need for more Marines/Soldiers and there arent enough to fit the need. Last time this happened was 9/11 but it didnt last for very long at all because its almost a last resort before a draft. And trust me - we have no shortage. ;)
