yyyup. apart from being a hatchback, the protege5 is exactly the same as the 2001+ protege ES sedan.

Key is the lettering on the sidewall. If they are the same i.e. '195/45/16' they will fit for sure!
If they are not the same - they may still fit - just tell what the sizes are.

let me clarify ,what I would like to do is put a tire on the car that doesnt cost so much is there any other options for this car ,dont really want to spend 500 -600 on tires if I can help it ,thanks

I am currently running 205/50/16 since they were cheaper at the time.

205/50/16 are certainly an option. There is a lot more to pick from and better prices in that size. They fit perfectly.
