Tire PSI

2005 Premium White Pearl RSX Type-S
What is the best PSI to set the tires at? For just cruising around town and everyday driving? The max load is 51 I think, what is the best psi to get the best gas milage? Thanks, searching didn't help.

Ummm my shop recommended i keep them between 35-40 psi. Don't know if thats optimum for gas mileage or anything, but it helps with even tread wear.

dang that sounds low. My front are 49 and my rear are 45.

I do wanna play with it a bit, 35 just scares me tho :P

If your running the stock tires then you want your psi to be about 31 to 32 for everyday driving. It should also tell you this information in your owners manual.

Stock tires don't have a 51 psi max i don't think. And mine do, but i keep it around 40, and check when i get gas and stuff. Haven't had problems so far. I don't know what they should be at, i'm just going by what i've been told.

mazda recommends 32 psi. i use 35 psi for a little better handling and even wear. 45 psi for anything other than autox will wear the centers faster.

My stocks have a 51 max and Dynotrick is correct. 32 psi is recommend by Mazda. That's for the best ride quality without sacrificing safety. If you want a little bit more handling then up it to 35 to 40.

Ive only had mine for about 1 week and the max IS 51. I guess the dealer wanted em high.

Ill lower em down to say 43 2night and see how that feels.

Also the fact that my front are 49 and my rear are 45 thats just because of the weight of the frong end right? should i keep em 4 pounds off like that? or should i made em all the exact same?

I feel that the factory suggestions are too soft as I had a lot of uneven wear (the sides wore quickly first) I bumped up to 35-37 front and 33-34 in back. This made the wear better, but still wore the sides more quickly.

(this is on the dunlop sp9000's on the mp3 though; could be different with different tires)
I've got the falken azenis' on now and I need to bump them up from 34 to around 38, they are very soft compared to the dunlops (at least it feels like that), but OH so smooth and quiet :)

40 is a good place to start IMHO. Great turn-in response, drifts pretty easily...but back in can come around quickly on recovery from understeer. no squeals at this psi. ride is definitely harsher than the 26 psi the dealer had the tires set at.
