Tire Change

My second choice after the Falkens would be S-03s. I used a set of S-03s as my daily drivers on my Celica and Falkens as autox tires, but there were some sites where I would use the S-03s.

The S-03s seemed to have better grip on poors surfaces. One of our autox sites is 30-40 year old asphalt, and it breaks up pretty bad. The Falkens would skate over the surface, while the S-03s would dig in and grab.

The Falkens were better for smooth or concrete surfaces.

The S-03s are better in the wet, and much quieter than the Falkens, and, come in 215/45-17, UNLIKE the Azenis which only comes in 225/45 or 245/40 in 17s.... They also cost more: I paid $113 ea for my Falkens, and the 215 S-03s cost $155 at Tire Rack the other day.

The SP9000 that came with the MP3 suck in cold weather and snow. For them to havre any grip it must be warm!

i've got a set of azenis for the track and wow, the difference is night and day! the potenza re92's my DX came with have a 160 treadwear rating!! :wtf: my azenis are 200!

the potenzas i had on the front for 5500miles and 3 autoX events, are now HALF gone and my dad is shitting a brick cause he doesn't believe that the treadwear sucks on them...

Unfortunately, treadwear ratings don't mean much unless you're only comparing tires by the same manufacturer. Each company has its own ratings that have little to do with any others. No standardization.

The rubber on the Azenis is SOFTER than the rubber on the RE040s (treadwear rating 140) on my MSP right now... If I recall, PP-S-03s have a tread rating of 280, and they are not much harder than the Re040s, with BETTER grip....

i know treadwears aren't standardized, but after so few miles i can see how much they've worn down...

Damn, these tires are sweet. I get a better launch and it eats up the turns, they have great traction on the wet pavement too. You can feel the difference in the ride too, feels smoother or somthing, cant put my finger on it

.. haha .. obviously the tires all suck in cold weather
and on ice and in snow .. wtf kind of tires do you think are on the car?
high performance tires? ohhh .... not all-season tires? hmmmm

wow azenis are very badass for the money but they aren't all that. s*** if you just want some tires get some a032r's or some of the Kuhmo road race tires and change them every time you change your oil :-)

lol yea, those yoks are nice!! but i can't run in a street tire class with them on.

if you run your car in a street tire class, you run azenis, nuff said

I'm pretty sure a set of Victoracers or A032s won't last the time between oil changes..... unless you change the oil every 500 miles.... ;)

hmm reading all the posts about the stock bridgestones being crap in wet weather has me liking the fact that i live in southern cali :D:D:D:D:D when my msp comes in, we will see.

i would like to get lower profile tires... i really like the yokomaha parada spec2's (the tread pattern is sick!!) and i hear that perelli and nitto are very good too. any suggestions. i kinda wanna do it soon so i can get good money for the potenzas.

What do you mean you cant run street tire race in them?

you can't run in a street tire class in SCCA Solo2 Racing with a tire that has a treadwear index of less than 140
