Tips for turbo installations

unfortunately not in front of the radiator. Not sure the plastic bumper will be able to support the weight of the IC under the forces exerted on it by driving.

I just picked up Denso iridiums for almost $50 for the four.

btw, going to have to return those denso's forgot to get a colder set.

What did you MAM guys do for the Oil Return bung. Did you get a fitting? or did you fit a bung with the threads on the outside? (is that still a bung?) My oil pan is dented from some sort of impact(s). I think I will wait on the new one from MAM, and just keep using mine for now.

oh yeah, i'm also trying to figure out where that little air filter goes, too

beau supplied the fitting, you just need to get it welded to the pan at the right height, read the directions for this measurement. ya, i'm going to upgrade my pan too!

8. Clean the oil pan. Clean the adhesive off. You may want to get a gasket scraper to get it all off. Best bet is to buy "starting fluid" at NAPA. If not available, use a wash screen and get all the grime off. It needs to be a NICE flat, non sticky surface. VERY clean. Spend 30mins cleaning it. Look at where the oil return line is. Near the top. Make SURE the top of the oil pan (where the adhesive was) is clean with no imperfections so it will sit nice and flat and so no leaks will occur. If there are ANY bends on the "lip" of the pan, straighten them out.

I haven't gotten that fitting, either. A lot of stuff missing from my stuff. I am sponsored, so I don't get instructions. I get to figure it out. Make me better equipped to support customers.

I do have the oil pan off, just haven't cleaned it up yet. I broke my flathead trying to get it off, finally resorted to my air chisel which popped it off. Don't worry, didn't damage anything. Other than the flathead.

Does anyone have a picture of the location of the return bung? As far as I know, those directions didn't give you measurements. Unless "Near the top" was the measurements.

What is the purpose of the breather filter? Didn't notice that in the directions either.

Thanks! Much appreciated.

Maybe it's too early, but I can't for the life of me, see the picture of the oil pan NOR the picture of the breather filter. I think I have selective vision... :P

As for cleaning the oil pan, "starting fluid" dissolves the silicone? I suspect the same process should be applied to the mating surface on the engine as well?

my advice to you is if you are still confused contact wagnermotorsports.net and purchace an oil pan with the bung already on it, or just get your old oil pan and weld the bung on the front of the pan away from the bolt holes on the top but as close to the top as you can get it. use a rust proof high temp spray paint to protect the weld.

I can't seem to get the oil return fittings on the hose.

I tried removing the red part and putting it on first, but then it collapses the inner hole and I can't get the other part in.

I tried keeping them together and pushing it on but I can't get it on very far.

Suggestions?

it is tough...make sure you have the right fittings...there are two sizes that come with the kit....i put the fitting end in a vise and then pushed the hose on the ribbed end....make sure you have the nut already on the hose.
