which is better for the buck?

Thunder is 200 bucks cheaper than the steedspeed...but if 200 bucks gives me more than 8-10 hp of a difference i dont mind spending the extra money for the steedspeed. any advice would be appreciated.

i was just thinking about making this thread...decided i was gonna eventually try and search it. f*ck it. im hanging on for the ride lol

lol...i need to know too. i prefer the look of the thunder mani...but im gonna go with power. but if the steedspeed doesnt really make a difference power wise, i wouldnt spend 200 bucks extra for it.

The steedspeed dyno was done by him, im not bashing him for that im just saying that it would be nice to have a dyno done by a second party. but anyways for 200 bucks you could do somthing else and easily pick up a few extra ponies. but remeber this there are two things in this world that would survive a nuke, 1 being a roach and 2 a steedspeed manifold those things are tanks but the Thunder on the other side they had trouble with the V1's but i hear the V2's are ok so it really comes down to looks for me, but really man its all up to you, your the one with the CASH!!!

I think someone who has a steedspeed mani on order might be dynoing... not positive on that though. I've got a steedspeed mani on order, i decided to go with that mani because it comes ceramic coated (thunder doesn't, and they apparently don't recommend you do it and will void the warranty if you do). Also, just because of the way it is made i feel very confident i'll never have to replace it.

thats whats keeping me from buying the thunder mani right now...i was like 70/30 towards the thunder mani, now im about 50/50. decisions decisions

Im doing a before and after dyno at stock boost,

The steedspeed doesnt really gain much at 6 psi, just like anything for our cars, but once u up the boost there is a difference :D (friend has the mani) But I think the Steedspeed mani looks better then the Thunder, But if it was up to me I would have a MAM mani... they look so damn good. But guys you have to remember, a turbo mani stock for any car doesnt really gain anything.... its just when you up the boost it helps, and the steedspeed WILL NEVER BREAK compared to the Thunder, Its a ok mani cause of its great pricetag, but I hear storys about them breaking, even the V2 of it. But liek I said b4, ill be dynoing the Steedspeed V2 mani (easier install and bigger ports) But from what I hear and see, the steedspeed all the way!

Does SteedSpeed still offer the custom engraving on his mani? That might be another reason to go that route. It'd be nice to have MAZDASPEED on there instead.

I have been running a Thunder for about a year now. No problems at all. I had mine ceramic coated before I installed it. I did a bunch of stuff at the same time so i cannot comment on wether it made a difference by itself but i'm sure it did.

i was thinking of getting in on the possible v2 gb but wouldnt mind seeing some more dyno sheets, anyone have links to before and after from a 3rd party installer?

I'm getting one that says 'steedspeed', i asked him about having it say 'mazdaspeed' but he said the whole batch he had was already engraved. I think you can get one custom engraved, but it sounds like you may have to give him enough advance notice for it. If you contact Leen about it i'm sure he'll fill you in, he seems like a nice and informative guy.

It might be just me but i think the 505 intake mani and the steedspeed exhaust mani would make the engine bay look mean as hell!

the thunder mani v2 has had barely any reports of cracking, and even if it does, send it back and they will fix it or replace it free

i have the thunder (not on the car yet) but it looks pretty solid to me

V2 of the thunder's runners are the same, so there shouldent be any HP gain or loss, its just it has some more brackets on it to support it.

If you know of a V2 that has cracked, I want to know about it, because I sure don't.
Please direct me to the person and I will contact him or her immediately.

well was looking at both, not worring about the extra price !!!!!!!!
Decided that I like the looks of the speedsteed !!!!!!!!
So thats what I purchased, Think its really up to each buyer ,as to what he likes, price, look .

my car is far from stock but i did dyno comparisons w/ and w/o the thunder mani.

on the same dyno i made 258whp at 15psi but then later made 261whp at just 11psi with the only difference being the manifold.

Man I'm probally going to save up and just get the MAM manifold. unless a used V2 thunder came up on the forsale forum for cheap.
