Thunder exhaust manifold sucks

The Thunder sucks because its a Chinese piece of s*** like the OBX. Braces won't help when its made with low quality, thin tubing.

And how much boost you run, doesn't affect the stress on the manifold....

I probably just volunteered for the guillotine here but I will say it anyway...

The Thunder mani is like any other part, aftermarket or OEM. It was designed with a specific purpose in mind. This as a stock replacement to provide better flow. It wasn't designed for more than 10-12 psi. It wasn't meant to be beat on at the track. I learned that early with Jeff at Tripoint. He tried running one but the bottom line is it just wasn't designed for that purpose.
I have even had some V1s rewelded more than once, at my own cost, to the point where it nearly put me out of business.
There will always be people who have multiple problems with a product, and Packerfan has a right to vent his frustration just like anyone else.
Hell, I'm not even here to try and contradict him.
I just want everyone to know that problems like his are not common and as long as the manifold is used and cared for within the parameters of the design I will be here to
assist with any issues.

he is correct... thin tubing in result is failure.. i sold my thunder as soon as i got it a few years ago..

On the contrary I am very happy you understand. And you need to understand that I didnt buy this product for a show car, I build cars and bikes to drive them. I must have missed the part about about its limitations before I bought it and during the whole write up on its R&D. Sorry ForceFed, yes thats New York sarcasm. LOL Anyway anyone have one that I can used to have my welder make one out of more quality material mine is back on and re-welded. The design is fine and the performance is good its just not good quality stainless even at 10 psi.

This is not true, the more boost you run the more EGT you will get, and high EGT is manifolds #1 killer. Theres intense heat and pressure inside exhaust mani.

you wern't happy with a steedspeed mani?? what were you happy with then??

ive never heard of a steedspeed cracking. how do you figure the stocker is best? theres a million cracked stockers...

have a car in the shop as we speak with a nice long crack in it.along with 7 holes in the block but the crack in the mani was there first.i vote steedspeed

I drive mine hard, and have never had a problem with my SteedSpeed. After seeing the thing, and feeling it's heft, I don't see how it could crack. And I definitely noticed a performance increase. Mostly above 5k rpm.

One manifold that produced gains and never cracked, and was also sexy looking was the MAM !!

I've been using the Steedspeed for about 6 months or so and I think it does a great job. The one problem I've noticed is that the coating appears to be turning color and I told Leen about it. He asked me if I had a gray coating and I said yes. He told me that coating was s*** and he apoligized, and offered to pay for a new coating or send me a new manifold. I chose a new manifold since he has black now which he said is a much better coating and damn sexier too.

Nothing is perfect, but if I have to choose between fixing cracks all the time, and simply getting it recoated, I choose the Steedspeed.

Ok didnt create this to bash other manifolds I can only speak of what I have experienced.

On a different note just bought tickets to Montreal for Formula One in June towing my two Buells behind the Protege.

Hey Focus you need to let me know about some good roads up their for the bikes and the Protege.

Let me know when you're in town. BTW Montreal roads suck ( that is what's left after all the potholes )
