Third time this piece of s**** has cracked on me with a GT28RS and yes have support bracket from turbo to block and Corksport exhaust hangers hanging a Vibrant exhaust, its just poor material and even worse welding ability, they should be ashamed. What are your thoughts??????????????

half million questions for you.

-have you contacted protephile? hes the exclusive vendor now.
-when it broke, did you have it welded or replaced? if it was the same mani and was welded was it a V1 or V2?
-what PSI were you running? the thunder is designed for, if i recall, 15psi or less on a GT28RS.

Running 14-18psi and that shouldn't make a difference I would think, who could design something with that tight of tolerances? As for talking to anyone about it I have bought more parts for this car then I care to remember and wouldnt know who to b**** to and yes I have just rewelded and no its not breaking in the same spot it started out at the collector and is now onto the runners just a piece of garbage. And a total waste of my time although I can now take it all apart in about an hour to repair I have done it so much LOL

I like my steedspeed... no worries on cracking.... none at all.

I like the steedspeed and love how it has improved flow but its just not easy on the eyes imo. No doubt that its a quality peice and much R&D went into it as well. Not to state the obvious but it was designed with function over form in mind.

ive had my thunder manifold break a few times. the first time it broke Protephile replaced it and gave me one with all the new bracing. but then it broke again and i had it welded. the third time it broke it broke all the way around the EGR bung and i had it rewelded for a 3rd time. but for the price what do you expect.

i would have gone with a Steed speed mani but i do not like the way it looks. its just looks like a block of raw material that is bolted to the motor.

I have the Steedspeed and I can understand how some think it does not look appealing, but I think most people agree functionality is more important than style. I would bet the Steedspeed is the most durable of the bunch.

damn i have a hiboost manifold but can get the money to get a better turbo so im selling it and iwas going to buy the thunder manifold now idk

if youre running the stock turbo, the v2 should be fine. there was quality issues with some of the earlier ones but they were almost entirely resolved when the v2 came out.

and on a sidenote, the mani options for this car are not super appealing. you can get the steedspeed which has love-it-or-leave-it styling, but costs quite a bit... the stocker, which cracks... the thunder, which has a less than perfect track record... the OBX which can be expensive and cracks... or the hiboost which is no longer in production. no fun.

V1 or v2 i have v2 and it still sucks am in the process of redoing all welds and the only right way is to grind them down and redo them and as for money i paid six hundred and it has probably cost me another 1000 to fix when you think of my time, fluids and gaskets. 3 times over

Hey you old HVAC tech, yeah if I worked in my trade like half these people in this business I would be out of business. LOL Just tired of taking it apart for other peoples mistakes.

I hear ya. Glad I moved on to something easier to work on and make power with. I do miss the handling though.

You paid $600 for the manifold????

And where in PA are you from?

Sorry I think I might have paid 300 from a member on here new and unused and then had to have the flange decked to match head.

And I am from Effort/Blakeslee right by Pocono Raceway.
