throttle body spacer

so you make the 3rd in the greater Cincinnati area? lol

tons of msp's & mp3's around these parts.

well i've seen a yellow mp3 around me several times. i used to live in norwood and i seen a yellow mp3 several times there also...drivin by a mexican i think. also seen a yellow mp3 several times in the anderson area on beechmont ave

well i removed the throttle body spacer and tried just the throttle body and i still hear the same sound same tone. still no sound at idle no matter how much i rev. also noticed that at a constant highway speed like 60-65mph i dont hear the noise but when i punch the gas i definately hear it

ok, so here is what you do to find the leak, it does pretty much sound like an intake leak like mentioned before. Start you car, get someone to rev it up a little, have one of thoes scented sticks, or anything that makes visible smoke, and go arround your intake area and see if the smoke gets drawn anywhere it's not supose too.. this will only work in a garage or on a day with no wind mind you.. and even then it's tricky, but when you do find the leak it will be quite visible as the smoke will go straight for it.

I will try that! thanks

So did you figure out the high idle problem and now you're just trying to pinpoint the vac leak sound? Did you adjust the actual cable?

2 of the original 500
Also, there aren't actually 500 yellow MP3's. The first 1000 were blue and the remaining 500 are scattered blue or yellow. So it's even more rare than you thought!

O, I didn't realize that. Will be that much more of a travesty when I paint it... If I ever convince myself to drop money on a paint job instead of performance upgrades anyways... LOL I definitely need a fair amount of general body work and a paint job. :D

I have not figured out the high idle thing yet. I did get the CEL again. Idle seems to be fine tho. I have not adjusted the cable

I'll look at my Tb and the cable when I get home from work today (assuming the rain holds off anyways). There has to be a way to adjust the tension of the throttle cable. Hopefully its reasonably easy to get access to. Tho I could see it being way back behind the motor at the fire wall or somethin stupid.... (protest)

The cable comes through the fire wall yes. It loops from the driver's side and hooks around the back of the throttle. There's a spring and a couple of black plastic rings. Two of the rings have a white mark on top. You line up those white marks to lock the tension in place. I can't remember the exact procedure, but you have to turn those rings to unlock the tension, then adjust the cable to where you need it, then line em back up to lock everything tight. You'll want to pull off the intake tube to make sure the throttle plate is closing completely.

Hopefully when you were messing around with all of the other stuff, you didn't screw those up too bad. If your TPS and whatever else you adjusted aren't set back, you will still have problems.

It's not comfortable, but not too much of a pain either. I adjusted one for a friend when he and his buddies were butchering an engine swap. Instead of calling me to do it right the first time, I had to go clean up their mess.

i figured out how to adjust the cable. i adjusted it so that the throttle plate was completely closed, however the car would not idle. I would start the car and it would stall out immediately. I adjusted the TAS screw a little bit to open they plate and now it will idle. Is the plate suppose to be completely closed? What i've read across the internet says the plate should be open just a little bit at idle

well my idle still sucks. i've got it set around 850 but when i turn on the A/C, idle drops down to around 550 and nearly stalls out. what now?

Does your idle recover after the drop? Or it stays down there? It's "normal" for it to drop momentarily as your A/C clutch engages.
