Thought my turbo was toast!!

I was driving last night and after accelerating from a light, I heard the turbo spool up extremely loud. I then noticed a large loss in power although I was under WOT (flame)
I took it to a shop this morning, we checked all hoses, lines, ect... I finally gave up and put the stock BOV back on b/c I knew the dealership wouldn't appreciate it. I left the performance shop and give it some gas to see if the problem has worsened. It was completely gone (friday) . Guessing the Turboxs Hybrid BOV got stuck open?? Just hope that was the problem and it doesn't return. Any thoughts or opinions on the matter would be great!

Keep meesing around with a factory turbo car. (humpleg)

I'll keep that in mind, especially since my MazdaSpeed CAI is already in route (breakn)

Does anyone know if this could have caused any damage while the BOV was malfunctioning?

if you had a sudden drop of power and the culprit WAS determined to to be the BOV, then no. If the BOV was leaking, you were simply dropping boost. That wont cause any damage to the vehicle. Your turbo might have tried to work harder to compensate for the boost leak, but you should be fine.

Thats great to know. I should have a replacement BOV from Turboxs coming in next week. Sounds like I am the first one to have a "faulty" valve from them. Definitely scared the crap out of me, its good to know what happened now (cabpatch)

I have known other people who said they had the same problem with Turbo XS BOV's. They might have made a faulty batch or something. Good luck with the new one. Let us know if it works better.

Turboxs is sending me a new one aswell. I have the bypass valve though. Worked like a champ till this happened. I opened the valve up and you could clearly see that it was stuck. They were more than happy to help me out and get me a new one.

Just to follow up, just got my replacement turboxs valve and so far so good. Works great just like the last one, up untill it stuck open. Hope this one works past a week. Turboxs is looking into the batch they got from the company in australia. MS3TR whats the scoop with yours? Is everything good so far?

Work'n great man, sounds amazing with the Mazdaspeed CAI and race pipe (shocked) They told me it could have been a bad batch as well. So far so good, what do you have planned next for your MS3?

A down pipe, I am going to wait I think till Turboxs comes out with theres. Thats what they told me is next on there list. I want to compare prices with the cpe one. Then I was also thinking of changing my short ram intake to the mazdaspeed cai. Then a engine managment system. What about you?

I am thinking about the downpipe as well. Looking forward to the XEDE becoming PnP, then I will probably have to get it. I think after that I will be well over 300WHP, which should make this thing even more fun(glare)

I was looking at the XEDE aswell. I am probably going to get some engine mounts to rid the wheel hop cause it is only going to get worse with the downpipe. (rockon)

Yeah let me know if that makes a big difference. That would be worth it if so.

So I it has been a little over a week and I can feel my car not holding boost again. I am going to remove the turboxs bypass valve and see if its that again. MS3TR how is your new valve working??? I dont know about turboxs's valves right now. I may just ask for my money back cause this would be the third one that I would be puting on my car. Dont know what to do at this point. Causeing more frustration than doing anything good at this point.

Just for FYI, I have had the HKS SSQ on for about a month now and it is working great. Also, I think the CP-E quality of there workmanship and attention to detail compensates for the turbo back price. I am just waiting for mine to come in.

The only reason why I went with the TurboXS bypass valve is cause I heard the running a BOV will make the car run a little more richer cause of the maf sensor. I know the car runs rich already so I was trying to eliminate that, but if I keep getting problems with it I might just have to go that route. I see you have the rear engine mount. How was that to put on and were did you get it. I need to get one, if you had a link that would be great.

I just went to the AWR website. The mount is the same for the M3. I confirmed with them on the phone. They have two durometers 88 and 70. The guy said the 88 would have more strength, obviously, considering all the mods I have done and going to do with the exhaust. They are both the same price so went ahead and got the 88. I haven't actually put it on though, I just received it today. It shouldn't be a problem as I have my own mazda mechanic...the hook up...hehe But I think I am going to wait for the turbo back first.

I don't know really...lol I saw in another thread how to mount it and it seems pretty easy to do yourself.

Vibration

I have heard in this forum that going to 88 duro makes the car vibrate like an earthquake.
Let us know, when you install it how it feels.

Cool thanks a bunch. I am going to order one right now. I'm not sure if I am going to do the exhaust or not yet. I am pondering on the downpipe first. I already have a SRI and the turboxs racepipe. Oh yea and a valve that doesnt work from them aswell. I am going to call them here in a few and we will see what they say this time.
