Third gear problems

I've driven a lot of high reving cars(600 hp Supra, NSX, Skyline, etc...). As for my MSP (which i got last thurs) the third gear keeps grinding. I don't get it.. Why any ideas. FYI i am holding down the clutch when i am shifting. It grinds when i am 1/2 way into letting the clutch out.

Hmm...could be the synchros, but I don't think so because you say it's grinding after you move the shifter, when you're engaging the clutch. Does it grind after the clutch is fully engaged?

Mine did similar today, clutch in, third gear, halfway into third, grind, put it back into neutral (clutch still in), put it back in, didn't do it.

My third gear feels really laggy. It's like the synchros aren't working and it catches on something before going in all the way

i have this problem to, its almost like the clutch cant hold the power

Your experiences sound like they are mechanical, but I just thought that I would share that I used to miss 3rd sometimes & I even ground it twice several months ago. I decided to move my seatback forward more (even though it felt awkward at the time) & it hasn't happened since. Sometimes a better shifting position makes all the difference.

Sounds almost like a faulty shift fork. Take it in before it gets too bad to be fixed for cheap.

im getting this too but only when im accelerating fast....it seems like maybe the clutch doesnt hold the power and wont connect....hmm?
