Things that make you go Hmmm

We (USA) went to war with Hitler & Germany during WWI and triumphed

We (USA) went to war with the empire of Japan during WWII and triumphed

During the 21st century (today) guess what are the top selling car manufacturers in this country

1) Japanese

2) German

Just something to think about.............

I think the top manufacturers in terms of sales are still domestics. I don't think I understand your point. Almost all fleet sales to contractors are domestic. And it's federal law that all govt vechicles are domestic.

Maybe it's me, but the majority of the cars I see on the road are some type of import. Whether it's assembled in the states or imported here.

Still tons of domestics on the road, I just tend to block them out because I don't care. Same with trucks, just another object in the road to avoid.

So many things wrong with your statement I don't know where to start. First, are you not driving a Japanese import, if it's troubling you so much go buy a Malibu and be happy. Second, Hitler was WWII and US is hardly responsible for his demise by June 1944 the Soviets were kicking the crap out of Germans, when the US decided to "liberate Europe" oh and US hardly participated in WWI. German cars are far from top sellers here, so I don't know what your point there is. I'm not trying to be an ass, but come on man stop spreading ignorant misinformation around...there's enough out there as it is.

Aside from the fact that Japanese and German cars are not the top sellers here, I'm just trying to figure out what connection between these conflicts has to do with cars. Perhaps the US presence brought automotive technology to those contries that they didn't have before? It happened during the Meiji restoration...

1) Although Ford Motor corp. owns a huge chunk of Mazda, Mazda is still a predominently JAPANESE Car Manufacturer

2) It's not bothering me, I was just making a statement

3) Do SOme research before you say "US hardly participated in WWI"

4) The majority of the cars you see on the road are Japanese or German

5) I'm not spreading ignorant info, just my opinion.....Last time I checked this is still a PUBLIC Board and opinions are allowed

The US hardly did anything in WWI. I took an entire college class on WWI and WWII.

Please give me some stats on "The majority of the cars you see on the road are Japanese or German."

hitler was in his mid 20s during world war I, he was not in power in germany

Kaiser Wilhelm II was in power in germany during world war I

US entered wwi april 6 1917, the war was ending by mid november 1918
although there were 4,734,991 servicemembers enlisted during WWI, not all of them went, and the US really did not play a very big part in WWI

get the facts straight

Yep yep, most of the time, the US army was getting trained by the French. We got in LATE. Remember, before WWI our land forces sucked ass. We only had a kick ass navy.

Maybe he is saying that after these countries were crushed militarily they started focusing on industry. After all, we forbid Japan to have a military and supported it with our own. This left these countries with the energy and resources to convert factories and such from war production to automotive industry.

We (USA) went to war with Hitler during WWII not WWI as already mentioned.

We also went to war with Italy (and won) who makes the best exotic sports cars...what's your point? We went to war with England (and won)...and they make the most luxurious automobiles.

America has always been about quantity not quality.

...and unless something was released in the past few weeks saying otherwise, General Motors sells the most automobiles in the world with Ford and Toyota battling for second and Chrysler not far behind them.
