i have no running car right now.
the garage and driveway are currently being taken up by the miata to which im still awaiting parts before i can finish it, i dont have time or room for a second project right now...
if the miata were running it may be a different story but its not and i need a way to get back and forth to work
i dont want to ditch the 3, i love that little car, ive owned it for nearly 7 years and put nearly 130k on her in that time... its a sad day but i honestly dont know what else to do :/

i cant afford to rent a car for the next 2-3 weeks while i try to get the miata back on the road.
Both dealership and my personal mechanic have 2-4 week timelines on fixing the 3, with the personal mechanic saying atleast a grand, and the dealership saying upwards of 2 grand. so im kinda ****** either way, inbetween a rock and hard place right now but i guess thats life...

no, more than likely parting it out to get rid of it.
I dont have a vehicle and the shops i called said it would take 2-4 weeks to fix Whitney.
Miata still isnt running and i cant afford to pay for a rental for the next 2-3 weeks til i can get the miata running.

i dont know for sure what it is... i do know that there is ALOT of chatter, and my guesses are either the timing chain/tensioner is bad and its slack and flapping around like crazy and or heavy valve chatter/damaged valve, not sure which but im pretty confident its one of the two... it sounds HORRIBLE

Not to be an insensitive doucher, but why not pop the valve cover and intake mani off and take a look? Or check the timing chain tensioner? T'would be a shame to part out your car and sell it as is for not much money if it's an easy fix.
