The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

My parents painted the living room in a weekend. then they hired someone to do the rest of the house. they tapped once day and moved furniture and stuff out of the way. Next day brought a paint gun in attached to their truck with a compressor and knocked the whole house out. it was sweet and mom said she will never paint another room again. I hate painting and so does my family

This. I tried the do-it-yourself method and after painting the Monkey Mural room in my house, I said forget this and got a quote to repaint the entire inside of the house.

Luckily, my new neighbors' dad is a painter and his mom is an interior decorator. Friend discount ftw!

Painting isn't that hard. I did my son's room in a day. We managed to get the Kitchen, hallway, and living room (one accent wall inline with the hallway) done in a day as well. Our bedroom took two nights, but that's cause we started at 7pm, did one coat, then went back the next night.

Well, I must admit, we had a good system down. I would roll, and my wife would do the edges and harder parts, since I have no patience.

After doing 2 coats of the stuff that was supposed to cover everything, I threw up my hands and said "**** this s***" about painting....

If they can come in and paint what I want in a day, go ahead...... I tried to have a painting party, but everyone bailed and I was stuck doing both coats myself.

You didn't promise enough beer/pizza/chipotle.

Damn. I've been there before, when I moved. I actually had quite a few people that I had helped with large 2 day moves that bailed after about 45 minutes. It sucks.

The most diffucult and time consuming thing about painting is the "cutting in" process with a brush. Using a roller to paint walls and ceilings is easy to do, it is the corners and trim, that takes time. Having the right brushes, also makes it a lot easier!

We don't really have the time or a ladder for 12 ft ceiling for the living room so paying someone that has a crew that can knock it out in a day, yes please. There was 5 of us on Saturday and we got a lot done in about 3 hours. Sunday was just me most of the day, unless you count Kennedy wanting to "help".

When I lived in Napa, we had a painting party and we water blasted the exterior, sanded where needed and had an 1100 sq foot home done in the same day. We had a sprayer of course and my buddy was a professonal painter that lent us his equipment! The ladies did all the trim work, windows, etc.

I have to paint every since room in my house since the PO used a flat beige paint that gets marked very easily. I've put it off three years now and I'm trying to put it off as long as possible. Probably cost me a small fortune to have someone do it for me. :(

well... went and bought this today, My run with Whitney is done.... hopefully she can live on with the potential new owner wanting to get her back on the road as a DD

yes i know it will get crap mileage BUT i paid cash and keeping no car payment while adding a vehicle capable of towing the miata and making hunting, camping, taking the quad out on trails and the other outdoor activities i enjoy, that much easier for me is a fair trade off for worse gas mileage

And a short commute to work too! No car payment will make fuel payment easier too.

indeed haha

Good deal Levi. looks pretty fricken clean for a Dodge.

there is some rust bubbling on the bottom of the doors and the tailgate and the rear quarters look like they have already been repaired once. BUT had it on the lift before i bought it and everything looked great underneath, coated brake lines, newer suspension, new brake pads and rotors, ujoints, and no sign of any leaking from the transfer case, trans, oil pan or rear end. its not a looker but its very mechanically sound, itll do for a couple years haha

The tire shop asked if I wanted the TPMS's swapped into my new wheels or if I had new sensors. When I told him it doesn't have monitors in the wheels its done through the ABS system he wanted to argue with me. So I went out and got the owners manual and let him read it for himself. Did he really think I was going to drop 900 bucks on wheels and tires and not check into the TPMS? Dumb ass!

Ummm, what? The TPMS system is done through special air valves. How would they communicate through the ABS sensors, silly?

ps- Happy Birthday, Larry. haha

pss- congrats on the truck, MonkeyAss. Yeeeee-haw!
