The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

We changed the rear shock absorbers on our 2009 mazda3 a couple months ago-
-we put some ebay sensens or something on there, and we've just recently disposed of the old blown ones. Before disposing of the old ones, i thought it would be a good idea to drain the oil out because maybe we can dispose of it in a way that's better than sending it to a land fill. Ideally i wouldn't send any of it to the dump but i don't know when i'd ever have use for any shock absorber parts. Scrap metal maybe.
We started by arbitrarily choosing a spot in one of the shocks to drill a hole. No prior research has been done, because whatever. Some gas exploded out but we couldn't get any oil, so we drilled another hole and that allowed us to pump out the oil. Now that we know what side to drill on for the oil, we started drilling on that side on the other shock. This produced a geyser of whatever oil was inside there that lasted for 3-4 seconds, and went all over that side of the garage and everything in it. It was... totally f'in awesome. Holy damn. Oil explosion. Except now there's oil all over my stuff.
I guess you have to let the pressure off the oil by letting the gas out first...
I don't think they responsibly dispose of the drained oil anyways... i think it just goes to a land fill for oils and such. Now it's responsibly sprayed everywhere.

Just a story for future reference... should anyone else decide to drain oil out of their old shock absorbers.

Why does the battery life and audio quality of the LG G2 have to suck so much? Comparison wise, its a great phone, but those two things kill it. I'm done with under-batteried phones

3200 mAh is under-batteried? If I'm not at work, I go almost 2 days on a battery at times.

LG G2 3000mAh, 273 hours standby, 1092 minutes usage
HTC One Max 408 hours standby, 1530 minutes usage, plus a larger screen

I've done the "that will do for battery life" once and never again. Considering I will probably have this phone for 3+ years as well, I'm not ready to compromise on important features.

My LG Pro G lasts nearly two days with limited usage and 9-10 hours when I am using it heavily.

My rezound claimed 2 days of heavy use, however, even with a fresh battery factory OEM replacement not 2 months old, and Cyogen Mod (improved battery life) I still to 18-24% by 3pm.

Nope. Just the nature of lte phones on Verizon.

All my gsm devices get nearly double the battery life with the same usage.

/end tech chat lol

Droid ultra lasts me most of a day with moderate use. I am in 4g lte coverage most of the time, which makes a difference.

My photon q lasted barely 10 hours under the same useage, but i was 3g & roaming at times

I have a feeling its part of VZW's 4G structure and programming. When i went to CM, it completely removed VZW bloatware, but it didn't/can't change the radio binary.

I wish I could go with another carrier for a few reasons, but plenty of my jobs are in locations where literally only verizon services

The networks are getting crowded, phone is busy trying to get a chance to have max bandwidth, especially is you have services that push notifications live. LTE phones work extra since the constantly switch between the available frequencies trying to find the best signal, plus I believe they just use more power in that part of the spectrum.

This looks like a promising solution

My solution.

That is interesting technology. I'm unsure if the tower out back makes it better or worse for battery life. I know my signal is excellent.

Sohan, were you on VZW when you had your G2?

I really have a hard time leaving HTC for anything else on the market, they have done me right every time.
