I've read some people remove the dust shield behind the rotor to help with cooling. I changed my brake fluid to Wilwood 570 before that half day at Mid-O and I'm pretty sure I boiled my fluid as well. And I wasn't even braking hard and didn't notice any fade. But the fluid is much darker than it was when I put it in.

Remove your fogs and run some ducting to the rotors because race car.

Keep in mind that you are using slicks, that changes the braking dynamic. Our brakes were not designed to be used with slicks, so they will get hotter faster. I don't think I've ever boiled my fluid, on any of my cars, never had the brakes fade either.

Paint has an extremely minimal effect on brake system temperature, the vast majority of heat is dissipated through the rotor, not the caliper.

Pablo is correct. Extra grip potential = extra braking potential. But fresh fluid and the proper pads should work just fine with r-compounds. Driving style plays a factor as well.

Fade is from exceeding the pads operating temperature. Which means better pads would take care of your problem.

The brake duct setup for Miatas utilize something similar to the dust shields, with the duct hose attached. I assume it's to keep the cool air from just fumbling in the general direction of the rotor or hitting a spot on the rotor and getting blown away. I don't see why you couldn't do something similar with the already-existing dust shields.

I have the same setup on the RX -7 it will help a lot with brake fade.

What brake pads do you have? I've been fine with HP+ on the Speed3 and 3. The MSP has Carbotech

My brake fluid was black after Mid-Ohio. Still is I also warped 2 rotors. I'll have them changed out with the fluid by next race season since she is pretty much done for the year.

removing the dust shield will get more airflow to the brakes it will also blow every bit of brake dust onto your wheels. but if you want more air flow just remove that... no need to fab up brackets

I ran hp+ on the RX -7 and they didn't hold up to track duty, by the 3-4th lap I had brake fade at the end of the back straight. I am using Hawk blue in the front and hp + in the rear.

Haha you know what I mean. I'm not going to spend 600+ on a track setup that I will only use a couple times a year. Rather buy hp+ and just adjust my driving style if I get brake fade.
