The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Wanna dip it? Muahaha! (JT and Will cringed when they just read my comment)

Early Menchies Photo shoot it is, if Sho can get out of work a little earlier or Will can bring his camera and shoot.

This friday i work til 5. Can be home and back in fairlawn around 630ish

yep the video I do have I take the chicane to fast and lose it though lol

I just need new pads. Maybe a track day setup of pads and rotors I didn't like that feeling at all

I got a bunch of videos from your GoPro Will. Thanks again for letting me borrow that. I copied the videos off the SD card, just haven't had time to edit them (due to issues with my car lol). Not sure when I'll be able to edit them considering my car issues and I'm supposed to be moving on Saturday LOL. I did watch a few before bed last night and one of my really good laps was 1:45. Not sure if that's the fastest lap I had, but it's hard to tell because most of the time I ran into slower traffic. I definitely had a blast though!

So I checked the factory service manual for my code P0300 and here's the list of possible causes:

-CKP sensor malfunction
-CMP sensor malfunction
-Ignition coil malfunction
-Ignition system malfunction
-MAF sensor contamination
-Excess air suction in intake air system (between MAF sensor and intake manifold)
-Fuel pump malfunction
-Fuel pressure regulator (built-in fuel pump unit) malfunction
-Fuel line clogged
-Fuel filter clogged
-Fuel leakage in fuel line
-Fuel runout
-Poor quality fuel
-Purge control solenoid valve malfunction
-PCV valve malfunction
-EGR valve malfunction
-Vacuum hoses damages or improper connection
-Related connector and terminal malfunction
-Related wiring harness malfunction
-Insufficient compression
-Variable valve timing control system improper (L3)

LOL...that's a long list of possible causes.

#1: Remember when we were at Jake's house when we did my HPFP internals? You suggested cleaning some sensor on top of the valve cover (towards the right side I think). Do you remember what sensor that was?

I thought we cleaned the cam position sensor while we were there? And it was clean. It's right on top on the drivers side with an 8mm bolt. But unfortunately, I doubt that's what the issue is. :(

But it's at a dealership right now, right? How will that work with who's working on it and charges and all that jazz?

I don't remember cleaning that sensor, unless I didn't notice you or Jake clean it. Right now, they're just going to diagnose the issue and I requested they call me with a quote before doing anything. That way I can decide if it's easy and I can do it myself in their parking lot lol. (like coil packs).

Purge solenoid valve can be checked easily, blow through test. Egr could do it too. I threw that code when i first got the car and patrick ripped my car apart in a University of Akron parking deck and cleaned it out.

I just had a funny idea. What if all of us Ohio guys ran for Mazda o' the Month? Any good photographers in here want to volunteer? It would be funny and a friendly competition if all of the sudden there were like 10 cars from Ohio.

I'd be up for a MOTM photo shoot but I can't make menchies I will be working 2nd shift the next two weeks I could make a Sat or Sun shoot.

Sundays work if friday doesnt. I got all ny sundays switched out for tuesdays for thr rest of the year (or so they say)

In the past, I've gotten P0401 codes (EGR flow insufficient) on really hot days. I got it back in June and again about 1 month ago. I'm thinking it may be completely clogged or the valve could be stuck.

Okay guys, lets shoot for this Sunday for the photo shoot(s). Now, how about a good location with a good background?

Marc, if you can't make it I'll volunteer to drive your RX-7 to the shoot. :D

I might be in for a Sunday MOTM shoot. I have some great ideas for the 3 required shots.

DAMMIT I need to live closer. 2 hrs for a photo shoot... Maybe you guys can use a universal background like trees or something so when I enter it can look like I was there :)

What are the three required shots? I dont stray from the ohio section other than to chec out your guys' build threads.

Anyone have a location suggestion?
