The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I'm getting like - 3 camber put on my car and once that's done I'll throw on my pink dildo towhook. I should be done after that... I think.

Then you will sign up for some auto-x and track days, right, Pringles?

huh, i have to say that its an interesting concept, but im calling BS on them making such a noticeable difference just by themselves

we are stuck taking the guys word that the evo's are exactly the same, the compounds of the tires are exactly the same and even then it could be the placebo effect making him think the camber tire is better

better test would be 2 cars, same stock setups, one with camber tires, one with compound as close to the camber tire as possible, then have we'll say 3-5 drivers (enthusiasts are probably best for this test) drive each car, and ask them if there was anything noticeably different about either car, then see if they can pick out the "gains" on this tire...

until i see something like that im not convinced this is nothing more than creepy phone stalker guy slipping that youtube channel alot of money to "report" what he wants them to report haha

I agree...there's no statistical data and just his own "butt dyno". Get a professional driver in the same car on a real race track. Compare lap times, g-force readings, etc. Sweet concept though.

yeah the concept/idea is cool, but i want more than just one guys butt dyno in 2 different cars (one of which is admittedly BEAT) haha

This might be a stupid question but I've got my flame suit on, wouldn't cambered tires have the same effect as a negative cambered setup? I watched the video too but am wondering if he's feeling more the effects of negative camber and not really so much the tire.

Example, the 1st Evo has stock camber and tires. The 2nd Evo had these cambered tires so more negative camber and a stickier compound. Well obviously the 2nd one will handle better. I'm willing to bet the 1st Evo with negative camber setup, and standard non-cambered sticky compound tires would feel much better too.

I like that cat though, he does good reviews and seems honest.

That would be a good test, car with normal tires and -2 camber VS car with -2 camber tires and 0 camber.

Evan, look at it this way just as a concept for autocrossers, slap on cambered tires run event, then put DD setup back on and never have to go get it realigned and still get max tread wear on the DD setup without compromising the handling for autocross (in theory this makes sense, and is actually kinda brilliant but no one really knows if theory and actuality would match)

I didn't really understand why they just didn't keep the test to one car and just change the wheels on the first car

Yeah I'm not really sure either. The first car he even said was beat on with like 90k miles. The second car could have been babied with 20k miles. So of course the 20k mile car would feel better regardless of the tire choice. So maybe the camber tire didn't improve the handling as much as he's claiming.

That's pretty brilliant.

Good point. Wait. Aren't we supposed to always argue? Umm, in that case. Nuh-uh, stoopid face!
