The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Yikes Larry! Glad to hear that you are feeling better!!! Maybe there was too much excitement at the auto-x....ever think of going to see opera?

what was the v6 in the 6 putting out? it was only around 220ish right? If they're close to 200 hp with the 2.5 and a lighter car you're going to get similar #'s and much better mpg's just something to think about

The V6 is 272 hp / 269 lb-ft.

I was thinking the 3.0 v6 since no one really likes the 2nd gen 6 design with the 3.7 v6.

215hp & 199tq on a 3320lbs car according to edmonds on an 06 s v6 w/ 5-speed

second gen weighs 3574lbs with a v6

Carbon fiber is on the way :) Can't wait to start making molds for the MSP and the 2.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the CF with the copper strands in it too. Especially if you're going to make door panels and everything.

I bought the reflections carbon with the copper for the interior and some normal carbon for a few flat panels. I would like to get the fenders done first and do the doors over the winter months so I can just have all 4 of them off at the same time. I might get door poppers so I can make the doors flush with no handles :) Just an idea.

And, what kind of blaster? A big blast cabinet? Or a tank style where you just blast big stuff in your driveway?

It's a tank, but a smaller one. It's 5 gallons, but looks like it could hold a whole 50lb bag of media. I picked up some Black Beauty or whatever from tractor supply and plan to test it out on my hitch. That thing's about as bad as it gets, so we'll see! I guess I'll just put down some tarps and try to catch as much of it as I can. Still not sure about what to use to strain it. Some window screens might go missing.... :D

So I was having a mild (in the docs words) heart attack.

Jeez man, stay alive for that kid of yours! And for us, too! Hope everything continues to go well.

Ah. We need the subframe and all front end suspension components to the Firebird done, but for the price of sand, it's really not worth it to mess with it ourselves. I'm waiting on a call back from the guy that 'blasted the car for us.

When I first started out in this business, I worked for a 1 man shop doing all his b**** work. He'd have me outside sandblasting stuff, and I'd sweep the sand back up and strain/sift it through a normal window screen.

Hmm, I should do that on the Yota eventually... What's a good price and place to buy media? It was 7.99 for 50lbs of the Black Beauty (I think that's what it was, I know I did read that name online) stuff, but I figured HF would probably be cheaper for just beater projects. You know, you don't need anything fancy if you're just blasting a trailer frame or something like that.

That's not a bad price at all? I asked our material supplier here at work a while ago, but he said between like, $50-$75 a bag for "good" stuff. I think it's like anything else, there's good, better, best stuff. If you get the wrong stuff, you could be there for days trying to strip something!

The guy quoted me $100-$150 to do all our parts, pretty good price. Might be able to do it cheaper ourselves, but I'd rather pay a little extra to not have to stand outside and get douched with sand. Seriously, that stuff gets in cracks you never know you had! You need a damn moon suit! Haha
