The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

spent some time working on the car, hooked up the converter for the trailer lights, washed and clay bar, etc... looks very nice. Also, talked to my dad. Looks like he'll be able to send me some of the money he owes me, of course this means a roll bar is in my future...

Looks nice Pablo!

Just keep the car Adam for a dd and stop putting money in it. You know you're going need a decent car just to putz around in after you put mods on another car.

I got the MSP out today. I miss driving it all the time and it's weird just driving her on the weekends or nice days. Brought it back to the apt and and bringing back the dd tomorrow. Oh yeah I bought a 98 Chevy Prism from my sister-in-law. Runs great and I don't have to worry about keeping it clean inside and out.

lol naaa. i want something prefirably rwd, or maybe awd. im looking at fc rx7, mr2, mkIII supra, 240 sx, 323 gtx, etc.

Ok, lemme get this straight... Your car was fine before you modded it. Now you don't like it and want to get something else. Looking at your list, you're listing (in order) a generally unreliable car, depending on the year... a temperamental piece of s***, a rarity around here that isn't rotted to s***, a drift special that's had the s*** beat out of it, a car that was ridiculously limited production that rotted out faster than Proteges...

And you're going to say that you're not going to mod it because you want something reliable. Here's a suggestion from someone who has had both good and bad luck with cars... Keep the Protege, turn it back to "somewhat stock", save your money, and then buy a toy. Christ, you're in college man. Focus on school work and making sure you have a driver that will get you where you need to be. You're young. There's time for everything else later.

Oh... and I know someone will b**** because I'm not being supportive of someone's ideas, and bashing the car choices... but let's face it, I'm sick of being afraid of hurting someone's wittle feelings.

What he said.
You are on a forum with a bunch of others with toys. Everyone wants, but you still have to have priorities. School should be first. Plus, a car with problems you know is way better than figuring out a new cars gremlins. Especially out of that list, for that price, they are going to have problems.

I agree completely with Phen. AJ, you already have a pretty awesome car, especially for being in college still.

Pablo the car looks great! (2thumbs)

I had to battle this myself. I got jealous A LOT (and still sometimes do) when I see people modding their cars a bunch, and I can't do it. Whether it's money, time, etc etc etc. Patience is key.

I can see wanting to mod cars and wrench on his own since it's a passion. But without much time or money, it just doesn't seem the right time, AJ. But of cours, you can't just turn off something you're passionate about and focus on school and save money. It's easier said than done. But I just don't see how it's feasible to be in school fulltime without a regular paycheck AND have a modded/project car, mate. Sounds like it's gotta be one or the other. But I've never been to college so I don't know s***. haha

Oh I know that you can't just turn it off... I did do the engine swap in the Civic while still in college.

im focusing on getting it running right. i think thats just what im sick of. im not doing a single mod until i can buy an ssafc. i sold the mpi tuner for 116, and i have a front mount yet to get hooked up, an intake manifold that im following in evans footsteps with, and i have access to machines to grind down my pulley. ill get the ssafc on, tune it, and then add mods, then tune, etc, etc. i wanna have a car that runs right. im gonna reduce some pre load on my coilovers, lift it about a half inch, and fix the problems. i already started on the problem fixing today. replaced a fuse for my windshield wipers, tightened a squealing belt, replaced my battery, and adjusted my rrfpr. the car already feels better. i just need to stop going crazy on it and understand that itll be a while til i can get a daily and turn it into the track car i want it to be.

the supercharger pulley. so i can build up a couple more pounds of boost. im only sitting at about 3, and id like 6

yeah i know it doest the same thing, but the only difference is that to have a larger crank pulley, i would have to completely have it made, unless theres something im missing. its cheaper to remove mass and diameter from my current one, and still saves the same purpose. wouldnt the larger crank pulley speed up the power steering too?
