The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Get RPF-1's. The spoke opening diameter is smaller than other 17's so they don't look so big.

but seriously, you could always go with an MSP kit. Bigger brakes all around, and everything hooks up properly, and works right because it was designed for a 3g Protege.

MSP brakes? That would be easier huh? I haven't done that much reasearch on the whole upgrade thing, thats why I ask questions/make a statement.

Yeah, for sure. I had the MSP fronts on my P5. An easy swap really. Calipers, brackets, pads and rotors are all you need.

it is. But does everything line up with the E-brake? Sounds like the MS6 swap doesn't...

I think Corey and AJ are wrenching in Toledo, you can go harass them while they work. :)

yeah man, come on over haha. we are just figuring out intercooler piping. feel free to bring some 90 degree 2.5 inch couplers if ya wannnnt :)

not really having trroubles, just trying to figure out how to route it. i need 2 couplers. lol

Discount Tire FTMFW!! I ordered my Nitto NT01s yesterday around 2PM and they arrived at my house around 10am today!!!! Free shipping too!!!!! I guess it helps that they have Ohio locations and it shipped from one HAHA. Still amazed though.

anybody got any ideas why my caliper is sticking again?

I replaced it probably about a year ago, and lubed everything up really well...but its getting VERY hot and squealing during daily usage...just like it did before I replaced everything..

If it's the Rear Caliper, does it have the E_Brake pin/lever with the spring around it? I had to release mine (because it stuck and made the rotor glow orange) just by touching/turning it but be careful because the car can (and will) start rolling. Did you buy the caliper new or was it already worn? Mine went bad at 85K miles. Greasing it will not help the situation I posted. If it's the Front Caliper, disregard everything I just posted and Vayos Con Dios.

I was just talking about the fronts. I'd just do a hydraulic line to the e-brake and be done with it. Extending the cable can't be that hard, either.... But now that I've said it... haha.

I'm not sure what the best option for rear disks for my platform would be. The 5th gen 626's had the biggest and most revised design, apparently. I'm not sure how similar it is to the P5's.

You don't want the P5 rear brakes. That stupid allen head adjustment screw is a pita. The MSP's have that slotted piston design and are easier to change pads and adjust.

Yeah, I didn't want those. MonoxideChild mentioned he took the allen head screw out and replaced it with a regular bolt. I don't know what year that was, but I'm guessing it was a 626. I'm not sure what size would replace it, but that seems like a better idea. It doesn't seem like there are any good rear disk setups. The PGT's and P5's stick, and the 3's require that stupid tool to twist them as you push the piston in.

made some headway on coreys fmic today, and got his radiator in. also fixed his egr. speaking of which, here are some pictures of him fixing that...

and him cutting up the car to make room for the ic piping.

will be all wrapped up tomorrow

Ugh. Note to self and others in Ohio... When ordering on the Puma website, pick free ground shipping. Don't pay the $15 for UPS 2-3 day.... My shipment is coming from the Cincy area. D'OH!!

I made my own stupid tool to turn the piston in on my 3. I took an old/cracked socket of the right diameter and ground it down leaving two nubs to fit the holes in the piston. Worked like a champ. I borrowed a universal piston tool (looks like a cube) that did not have the right size. Went to Autozone and rented their tool kit, also did not have the right size. I was desperate.
