The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I made my own stupid tool to turn the piston in on my 3. I took an old/cracked socket of the right diameter and ground it down leaving two nubs to fit the holes in the piston. Worked like a champ. I borrowed a universal piston tool (looks like a cube) that did not have the right size. Went to Autozone and rented their tool kit, also did not have the right size. I was desperate.
I think I've made at least 3 tools using a socket welded to a piece of flat bar stock to get the nut off the top of a strut.... Lets you put the Allen key thru the top to stop the shaft from spinning. Seems like every car I get has different sizes... I now have a collection haha!

That's a cool idea. I've heard of other people just using needle nose pliers, but I'm not sure that's the recommended way. :D

Neither did he! haha. Hopefully one of the slammed cats will be like "Dats sick, yO!" and buy them.

Why is it so hard to NOT curb rims? In all my years driving, I can't say that I've ever bashed my rims against a curb. Hell, it's rare for me to even be IN a curb situation! Drive around on the roads, park in a lot, come home, park in the garage...repeat. haha

98% of the rims sold on this forum have curb rash to some degree...

p.s.- Not bashing Papa Lewis or anything, just a random observance.

Speaking of wheels, has anyone swapped back to their summer set? I'm seriously considering it, but I know it will snow as soon as I do. Just done with the steelies and the rubbing in the front.

Well, Papa Lewis also can't drive for s***... soooo... haha

I curbed my ASA's pulling up to your house. That's the only times I've ever curbed a wheel. So it's your fault. haha

I put the summer setup on the ms3 already. I have my fingers crossed.

Tough one. lol

With the lack of winter this year, it would seem like no big deal to swap them now. But yea, we always get one good douching in March or early April!

I can count the 2 times I have curbed my rims in all my driving.... The first one was avoiding a pedestrian in downtown Boston who walked in front of me while texting, completely oblivious to their surroundings. The second one was because of ice on the road when I went to stop. I slid a little into a curb.

Sometimes stuff happens.. You can't control it.

All 4 of mine came rashed too...one is REAL bad. The design and tire size doesn't allow for much protection.

I'm gonna paint them graphite and hope it hides well. lol

Peaches knows what that's like. When he bought Ivan's old wheels from me he hit a patch of ice and slid into a curb and farked one up beyond repair. So he's been sitting on 3 perfectly good wheels that are discontinued. :(

yes it is! been outside running errands and now painting a shelf. Got the strut on the left side of the hatch door so I no longer have to use my head when loading and unloading things. The p5 is turning into a money pit

I clear coated a ceramic pig. :D

Also spent about 3 hours reorganizing my USB's, still have the 4, most packed to go. lol I got a USB interface for the Wagon, and it requires the USB's to be organized into folders, w/up to 99 songs per folder. The 6's recognize up to 10 folders, but I'm finding I can only load around 40 songs per folder for it to work right. The songs must take up too much space...
