The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Total vintage look. I love it! Just needs a older style of rim,but still looks great.

Trying to figure out what days I need off to attend more Corrals this year. I really want to be there to help out. So far, I think I can make Belle Isle and MidOhio with no problem (AKA, using none of my 5 vacation days).

After that comes the Sahlen 6 Hour at the Glen-- EDIT: the weekend before the 4th of July, a busy time for me at work... not sure I can get it off in all honesty..

How is that race? When is the Conti race if the 6 hour is on Sunday July 1st?

It's a good 5+ hour drive... so I'm thinking drive up friday sometime, staying overnight saturday (conti race), overnight sunday (sahlen 6 hour race), drive home monday morning. but that is potentially requesting 3 days off (fri, sat, & monday...it won't fall on my sunday to work)

My boss is lenient, so I might be able to slide by a day or two with him just "not scheduling" me rather than taking a vacation day. But these races fall at peak graduation party season and our 2nd busiest time of the year behind Christmas.

I plan on using a couple vacation days to head out to Lime Rock with everyone this year. The Nepoc guys who ventured out to MidO were too cool not to reciprocate and visit their home turf!

Of course I'd like to be at more, but I just don't see how it's possible. So really, I am just struggling with the Sahlen 6 hour. Help from the seasoned vets who plan the trip each year would be greatly appreciated!

Chippy, I am not sure there is a corral at the 6-hour. I think everyone just goes to watch. I could be wrong.

In the past, the Glen has not been good for corrals due to how the track is laid out. Things may change, but I know that I haven't heard much about it.

The Glen 6 hour is on of the races I'd really like to go to (although not this year) whether there is a corral or not. It's a super easy drive too. Last year my Dad and I made the trek in just over 5 hours driving a truck towing the trailer. I wouldn't be surprised if you could make it out there in 4.5 or so in a car.

I might have to make a build thread for s**** and giggles since the MSP is doing some transformations this year in the spring and summer.

dont lie. youre gonna get a rear lip a fmic and reduce weight by shedding the rest of your clear coat ;)

More like I'm getting this spring/summer:
Mishimoto FMIC
CRX intercooler piping
Mishimoto full radiator
Mishimoto dual slim fan shroud
SSAFC
AEM Wideband UEGO Controller/tune
GT Spec rear link/V brace
Rcomp tires (most likely 225 series)
MSP rear lip

Wish list:
BC adjustable coilovers
AWR triangulated front strut bar
lightweight Kosei or Enkei wheels
fresh paint
3" DP
Header
626 intake ported/polished
AWR deep sump

We are looking at hosting a Corral @ The 6 hours of the Glen, it will a small one, as we do not get a large turnout for the most part. We will have a finalized Corral Schedule by the end of the week, as we have submitted our request to Mazdaspeed Motorsports. We will probably stay overnight at one of the casinos while we are at the Glen or do some wine tasting as well, Lauri will have a more accurate idea later.

Corey, no header on F/I cars, look at the 3" DP and a 3" turbo back exhaust. Look into getting a AEM Tru Boost boost gauge/EBC combo. I would check with Josh or even Wes and see if they can weld your pipes for your FMIC......I would look into getting the AWR Deep Sump pan, sooner, rather than later as AWR is not going to make them anymore.

I have a 626 mani just sitting in my garage if you want to take a shot at porting and polishing it. I think by headers he means exhaust mani.

Yep, but not a whole lot of power if any for the price is made on a low boost car. How much for the mani and to weld the pipes if possible?

I have a 3" Vibrant exhaust and just need the downpipe for the combo. I did not know that about the AWR deep sump. What else do I need with that to make it work?

steedspeed no longer makes his mani's, I'm not sure what else is out there new.

Finally sold the evo wheels on ebay

I think someone is selling the AWR Deep Sump oil pan, see if someone is sellng their steedspeed mani as well.

Are people really watching their oil pressure lower through corners on a actual gauge? Or is this oil pan just cause other people have blown motors and think that's what did it?????

Alright, this is a random thread so I figure I'll ask your guys/gals opinions as some of you are tech savvy as well. I currently have two Dell Inspiron 1545's that are just over 2yo and both have broken power ports so the battery will no longer charge but they will boot up and operate just fine as long as the connection with the ac adapter is good (both have play so a little shift and the connection is lost). Dell tells me that the motherboard has to be replaced costing approx $400ea...not happening. Found some cards online that will replace that unit for around $35 but then I have to take it apart...not happening I'll def. eff it up and then they are paperweights....a true docking station that will power the unit and charge the battery is not available (mad)....so much for the quick/easy fix. Now that you have the back story, these are my thoughts going forward....

1)buy a new laptop (looking at a Toshibahttp://www.bestbuy.com/site/Toshiba+-+17.3%22+Satellite+Laptop+-+4GB+Memory+-+500GB+Hard+Drive+-+Matrix+Graphite/4677402.p?id=1218505449572&skuId=4677402, SamsungSamsung and ASUShttp://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+17.3%22+Laptop+-+4GB+Memory+-+500GB+Hard+Drive+-+Matte+Dark+Brown+Suit/4566308.p?id=1218492385044&skuId=4566308 currently) for approx. $500. Tell the kids that it is only to be used for school projects and at the table...for youtube, facebook, etc they can use the Dells.

2)Buy an iPad2 for the same price, set-up time limits for the kids to use it to keep the teeth gnashing and hair pulling to a minimum. And when they are in bed, daddy will have a nice little toy to play with after playing with mom.*

3)Buy a Samsung Galaxy tablet. From what I've been reading it's just as good if not better than the iPad2 and will allow me to use Flash player (not that it's a deal breaker over the iPad2 but a pro) and I'm still reading up on it.**

Regardless of the scenarios, I'm looking into a wireless print server because my cheap ass didn't buy a wireless printer from the get-go. This will be nice feature to add to the home network anyway and should I choose option 2 or 3 will make printing school reports from either Dell less of pain-in-the-ass as it can be done from the kitchen table vs. powering down, going downstairs and powering back up.

Any/all comments are welcome whether you are a fanboi of any particular brand or like to bash any particular brand.

*Assuming of course that mommy wants to be played with beforehand. If not, daddy will just have to be happy playing with the tablet. (evil)
**See notes for iPad2

I can't add much except I've only had problems with my hp wireless printer and it's gotten to the point where I take the computer to the printer and hook up the printer cable to print.
