The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

how many GB would i need? is 4 enough?

it depends on what you're gonna use it for, I have an EVO 4G, 512MB internal and a 16GB SD card. The internal is used for some apps that won't allow me to move them to the SD card, and I'm using almost 3 GBs on the SD between apps, pics, video and some music. IF you're only going to take pics, maybe a few videos, 4 Gigs might be fine. The thing about the iPhone is that you have the option to sync it with your iTunes library, on your PC\MAC or with iCloud, but if you're not gonna load movies or music on it then 4GB might be enough. I take quite a few pictures, and also download some so I would be somewhat limited with 4. It really depends on what you do, but since the device allows you to do more stuff you didn't do before, you'll be finding yourself deleting stuff to free up resources. I've thought about getting the iPhone 4, but it would have to be 16GB minimum for me.

Do you have any ideas on what you want to be doing with it?

I race mine, wow that's crazy. But deffinitely an idea....

Dooooo itttt!

If I went 17x7.5 it probably wouldn't be a problem going 235 or even 245 with a 45 offset.

I'm thinking of picking up a second set of 16x7's, +15 offset. I'm going to run 265's on them, though. With a 75 side wall. Yeah, it'll be for the Yota. :D

My buddy picked up a 94 XJ a while ago. It's got the 4.0 HO (high output) and it's a 5 speed, which seems to be a harder to find combo, and it's 4x4 of course! It has a little bit of a rust issue, though, but we didn't waste any time fixing it up! (fixing is a relative term...)

That doesn't look that bad, huh?

Up front the rocker isn't too bad
IMG_0156.jpg

But it kind of deteriorates towards the back

And then it's totally gone...

Passenger side is no better
IMG_0163.jpg

Hmm, that should be attached, right? No wonder that back corner seemed a bit bouncy...
IMG_0164.jpg

First order of business was to remove the seats! It looked like someone had been murdered on each of them, so they were a total loss, lol
IMG_0155.jpg

During the test drive, when he got on it, my passenger's side seat leaned back, like it wasn't attached to the floor in the back... This might explain some of it, this is the driver's side.
IMG_0166.jpg

Floor pan rot is a common issue on these
IMG_0167.jpg

Passenger side isn't a lot better, they did a cheap patch job with scrap and metal screws

Cuttin that rocker off!
IMG_0175.jpg

IMG_0178.jpg

Well howdy doody, it's got a floor now!
IMG_0180.jpg

Had to jack the floor up a bit to get it in position to weld. It takes some effort to do this, it's got a solid 2 FEET of ground clearance!

Stitching the new floor to the outer floor pan

Part of a filing cabinet that we cut off and used to patch the rust hole in the foot well
IMG_0190.jpg

The bottom is .172" the upright is .125" and it's attached to what's left of the rocker. It was really hard not to blow holes in the factory sheet metal because it had rust on the inside

Driver's side floor fiberglassed and primed

He picked up some new seats from a wrecked 4 door
IMG_0241.jpg

Rear covered with .172" welded in, fiberglassed and painted

Driver's side painted
IMG_0243.jpg

All patched up, it looks fine from 20 feet!
IMG_0210.jpg

One coat of duraglass and some rattle can, good as new. It could use body filler over top, but who cares, it's a Jeep! It's going to get slammed into rocks and trees anyway!

Oh yeah

I don't think I'll be going with the iPhone, Of course it's main use will be as a phone for calling and texting, probably taking pics and some videos and post them on facebook and some on here. I have an iPod so I don't really need it for music. Occasional browsing the internet to look things up

Don't worry anything more advanced than fender rolling and you'll be the first person I call.

See, I think you'd be fine for an iPhone. I don't know if you're a techno person, but I think the iPhone is much easier to use. It may not have the expandable memory, but when I was looking for a phone, I tried both the iPhone and a Droid. I could move through menus and programs much faster than I could on a Droid. I felt I had to keep swapping screens on the Droid to get anywhere.

It's all in what you like and what you feel comfortable with.

in comparison the iPhone dosen't seem that great. The main reason why I wasn't considering it is because I can get a better deal on phones through Home Depot's employee perks website than going to Verizon and the iPhone isn't an option. I think it's between the Razr & the Galaxy Nexus. Razr has the better camera...

I've heard quite a few good things about the Razr: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2399561,00.asp

Does $75 a rim for powder coating seem pricey or about right?
Just about right.

I worked in quality control in a powder coating shop for 2 years. I've powder coated a handful of wheels for friends and myself and never had any issues. We had our oven set at 500'. And some of our parts we PC'ed twice when the first coat was too thin.
I know most of the powder I have says 325-350* to cure, the Saturn wheels just went back in for the glow in the dark clear and got preheated to 325 then resprayed. I dunno about my candy purple RBs but I never had any issues, neither has the new owner. Same with the gold K1s...

Fender rolling party meet set up for April 1st. Check out the thread in the OH section if you haven't already :D
oh? I'll try and make it :)

Just helped a friend in mentor roll his fenders, install coilovers and new wheels... Result:
