The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Lol advertising fail. The answer to the first question is yes to both for me. After I played GT1 when I was a kid, I wanted a Mitsubishi GTO, and the current dream car is a 240sx, haha. Exotics can suck a fatty.

I've always wanted a 911, among many others

A 959 was at the top of my list, but I've always wanted a 911... just to offset my tiny dick. But seriously, I was just looking at them last week...

a 911 would be very nice, I've been looking at beemers because of the drive event on friday (part of it is letting you drive one so they can try to sell you one) but I haven't dared to look at the Porches...

Aah yes, I forgot about that drive event. A bit different than the old drive for the cure, where they just wanted to raise money for breast cancer. How'd you like the 6?

it's this friday, but I'm sure it'll be amazing... I think a 1 M series would be reaaaaally nice but it's too ******* expensive. And I like the E46 M3 better than the new one but financing would be a pain (unless I go to a credit union), decisions decisions...

I'll take a Lotus over a Porsche, especially a Exige. Plus they usually cost less.

I've driven the 135i's. They're pretty impressive, but the price tag makes me tell them to go **** themselves.

I was looking for one as well before I changed back to the speed3. Used car prices have gone up quite a bit lately. I saw people buying used for dirt cheap before and now it's much more expensive. I would love to drive a 1 M though!

The thing with the newer BMWs is that they feel sterile. There's no soul to them. Fast, sure. Handle well, sure. Feel? Nope.

I have wanted to buy another Porsche but next time I don't want a POS, I have owned a 74 914 2.0 liter w/ bosch fuel injection and a '68 912. both were totally beat to fu*k but they were fun when they ran. I would like a mid-80s 911sc .

I wouldn't want one because I would do all the service on it and a rear engine car has got to be a pain to work on. I'll stick with Japanese please. Or like Corey said, an Exige for sure.

so no porsche cause its rear engine, but elise/exige is ok even though its rear engine... that doesnt make sense bud....

^they have a toyota in the back so he's still within his Japanese limitation

Lotus is mid engine... harder to get to stuff than rear engine. The way the 911's are set up, there's a lot of open room once you remove the cooling tins (on the old aircooled ones). Not to mention it doesn't take too much to just drop the engine out of the bottom like an old Beetle.

I've seen what my dad has to do to work on his Boxster. I'd refrain from that for sure.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard this at work.....

The last good BMW was the E39 M5. Brilliant, brilliant car. I would buy a Cayman S over a 911. I know, it's not a real Porsche, but it feels much more controllable and less like an old man's car (BMW 6-series, Benz SL, Lexus SC).

My dad has a Boxster as well. He was telling me that you have to access the engine with the top half up/down or something crazy.
