The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I think it's evo 8? not too sure on my evo #'s from the 03-06 model 17x8 enkeis with I think 6 spokes, they've been in storage since I got them last fall. I have a pic on my other computer

The 6 spoke ones are the Evo 8, I really like the split 5 spoke design from the Evo 9.

Just wanted to throw my opinion out there on wheels. Personally, buy only the highest quality and top of the line stuff. You get the form and function that you want since they look good and weigh less than knockoff brands. VRwheels.com is one of my favorite websites to browse just because of all the cool BBS wheels and stuff that are decently priced compared to new.

At the same time, because I don't want to sound like a huge dick about guys who have cheapy wheels: This is coming from a kid who bought a set of hashed up, one wheel is bent, curbed, scratched, and clawed OZ Ultraleggeras for under $750 shipped. Oh, and the hub size was wrong. So I am all for being cheap. But I can never see myself getting rid of the OZs except for BBS, unlike had I bought the Rota Torques I originally wanted, then decided I wanted more baller status. Cause yes, I am baller. LOL

Ya, 18x8. 1" wider than the 7" wide MS3 stockers...VERY noticeable grip increase!! Idk why they put such skinny wheels on the MS3, the 2nd gen's have 7.5"

I had the RX8 wheels on my MS6. Definitely awesome to have, but I went to a lighter 7.5" rim

Those look similar to my Work rims....

yeah, they sell imported rims, so its a lot of fancy names you don't hear a lot about. But you can definitely find BBS, Volk, Advan, etc. used for way cheaper than new. Sometimes I regret not knowing about the site, because in total I paid about $1100 for my OZs when I could have gotten BBS from there for around $1200-1500 and jus tbeen done with it.

but, the prices are still a little too high for your $500-600 price range.

And I love the look of Rotas, Drag, etc. Cosmetically they look as good or better than the real deal. And of course, they are definitely NOT heavier than OEM, more about the same....it's just everything I do to my car better serve at least a 1% function rather than being all form. Many Drag and Rotas would still fit the bill. I prefer Rota Torque myself, 17" in broze would look nice

That's normally my philosophy, too, when I'm actually getting more for my money, but with wheels, I'd have a heart attack every time I tried to parallel park my car, or back out of Evan's driveway, or whatever. For me, I'd rather have cheaper stuff where I don't need to sell my car to repair or buy another wheel if one gets damaged. Again, just my thoughts.

I'd personally like to get some Diamond Racing wheels for my 'future' Miata. But with the lightness, does come the downside that they're easier to bend.

here are the evo rims i have, the offset is 38 so i'm worried about the rear sticking out. i would like to paint them too if they do fit

Hmm... I don't know what I think of those BBS that James posted on a Mazda. I can see them on a European car in an instant, but I'm not sure about Mazda.

I agree. I love BBS wheels on German cars, not so much on Japanese cars. Especially since it's becoming a trend with the herrafrush cats with stretched tires.

I'd love to get a set of old BMW BBS wheels for the Bav whenever I get it. It's got 14" wheels on it right now. A nice set of 16's may look good on it.

Thanks for the site Chippy. I gave it a quick peep, still a bit sticker shocked. BBS wheels are super nice looking but a little too blingy for my taste. That particular like though was not too bad.

Nice looking wheels. 38 is really gonna put em out there though.

Your statement is rather contradictory. How can you say buy the high end stuff when you talk about Rota Torques which are knocks offs of the real deal? I'm confused here.

ugh, after picking up my car on thu night - it still wasn't running right - threw a code that it was misfiring on one of the cylinders ... brought it back in on fri morning, needed a new coil pack and some plugs, i think. now she's finally running right again, whew! but cost me some money i wasn't expecting to have to pay ... ugh.

did marlon post up that we finally picked up spicy last night? now just gotta shovel out the driveway to make room for one more car (plus she's still sittin on slightly treaded slicks) before MORE snow flies this afternoon. enough with this snow already!! after this week and having my car stuck twice and marlon's stuck once, i'm f'in tired of digging out cars. i hope punxatawny phil was right!!! i need spring!!!
