The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

99 mustang gt (3 years), 96 dodge dokota (3 years), and now the msp (4 1/2) and my 75 camaro (project) which i claimed to be mine at 3 and legally owned at 14. One day i'll make it atleast drivable again, still starts!

Can we build these cars in my garage? I'm dying for a winter project and an excuse to buy a 220v Mig welder. And I prefer Honda motors too, especially the B series. Though Super Street did manage to get 700whp from a turboed D series. But I dislike the silly Honda sterotypes and everyone would yell "Veee tak". Haha! Including myself.

Try living in Marysville with the Honda plant right up the road. That's all I saw. Prolly why I'm not a honda fan at all.

heck yea lets design and build our own car with the sole purpose of it being a track/autocross monster hahaha

A lot of s*** is government mandated now. ABS, Traction control, hold your dick while you piss so that you don't ruin your khakis... you know s*** like this. It's ******* stupid, all becaus people can't ******* drive. Cars get heavier to save morons, instead of teaching them, and letting natural selection take its course.

i always wonder at what will happen when people start relying on these technologies. i saw a lexus, or infiniti, that will steer you away if there is a car in your blindspot. i just know the people will get used to this, and just start turning, knowing the car will save them. so... what happens if they have to drive a car without this feature?

i hate abs, and anything else that will fight me when i try to do something. im the driver dammit!

^turbo all-wheel drive 323. He he he. We'll give them their tar tar sauce.

i feel the same way, especially with the feature that wakes you up when you dose off... if you're too tired to drive, THEN DON'T DO IT!

I just wish they would leave all these "features" as options so that you can choose to have them or not. I'm perfectly fine with all the morons that can't drive having ABS, traction control, or whatever else they need to keep them from running into me.

that's what we want....but you have to go out to cali or somewhere else that's warm to find one in decent shape...we almost bought a regular 323 for a winter beater for $350, but it was in too bad of shape :(

i think sean wants to run a shelter for unloved old mazdas :)

94 Civic, 87 300zx, 90 RX-7, 01 Protege

I've tried to stay diverse but Mazda is beginning to trend out... lol

An Ohio thread build would be pretty epic, tho. I don't know how much time I would be able to commit up front, due to being so far away. But I would help whenever possible.

This reminded me of a story on NPR my dad told me about a while back. The goal was to create a car that could get 100mpg, and almost all of the entries used the new hybrid s***, but this guy, who actually has a brain in his head, went for light weight and used a regular engine and got over 100mpg, plus it can withstand race-car like crashes IIRC.

There are so many unnecesary things in cars, like carpet. I think my shoes will not have their feelings hurt if the floor isn't all plush for them. You can't even buy a truck without carpet, even if it's marketed on the commercials as a work truck!

I think that the OEMs put all this junk in the cars just so that they can list everything as "standard" even though it's a base model. "Oh, you couldn't possibly want to shift your own gears, so we put an auto standard, and elephant leather seats, and a massaging seat belt, and gold trimmed gauges..."

And then they act like they're stuck up a creek with the new mandates that they have to hit certain MPG ratings by 2014 or whatever. Umm, Honda was doing it 25 years ago with the CRX, and it's just as fast and I'd bet a lot that it's 100x more fun to drive than these new hybrid monstrosities. The CRX got over 40mpg, and it didn't need to be plagued with an electric motor because it was light weight. But now I guess everyone needs their Aveo to have the same crash test ratings as an M1 Abrams cus they think they got precious cargo or something..

yes, this...our old metro's got crazy good gas mileage....

i alomost bought an awd protege that had everything but the engine and trans, but decided i would stick with 2 cars for now...still kinda wish i did. i never really thought about it but yeah, besides making the cabin quieter, what's the point of carpet? guess it makes the cabin look pretty

Strip your interior and find out, lol. You guys need to realize that we are not the mainstream car buyers. We are a different breed.
