The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Track is still the same, no improvements at all. last year Jonathan Davis damaged his Sentra there, (tirewall of course). I think if Nelson had an actual instructors for the track less accidents would happen. I have not been to one event, where someone has not damaged their car.

In fact, there was a fatality (open wheel) a few months ago. It is a nice little track that carry's a great deal of speed, but little to no runoff area. I actually prefer BeaveRun to Nelsons.

Ya its still the same. You have to think of it as a tarmac rally stage more then a road course. I feel much safer at Mid Ohio for sure. And spicy is right, today four cars hit the wall. There were maybe 20 there total... I was a car behind a 87 civic going around the carousel. The carousel is a fast, decreasing radius corner. He was carrying way to much speed, and the car stared to push. He tapped his brakes for a sec, and transferred to much to the front. He slide off the track sideways, got air, and rolled 6 or 7 times. When he was done the car was on top of the tire wall and tree. I need to check my in car video to see if it caught it. I'll post vid's later to show how bumpy it is!

Actually, if you look up "badass" in the dictionary, the definition is-"see jri4"

...And that picture is next to it....

Like a chipmunk......you kill me

Nice wheels I really like those black ozs on the black mica ;)

No, I mean, you made a typo. Re-read it. It's funny. I don't mean you're a jive turkey for upholding your Mod duties.

No, I meant I'll ignore it here... just don't do it in any other threads because other mods aren't as lenient about it as I am being.

And this is why I'll never run there. I saw my share of s*** just coming to watch the befallen Cleveland 6 Club run.

how much?

o and what kind / miles

Stance GR+ coilovers with camber plates, maybe 1500 miles on them at most. i had them probably close to a month and half then I put my car back to stock to get a new car.

Im asking $1000 installed for them, they are $1500 MSRP

at this point they are taking up space in my garage.

Yeah, I mean...no matter what car I would be driving, OZ Ultraleggeras have been my favorite wheels for a long time... twins!!!!
i shoulda used the pink font as well.... haha
Yeah, I understood! Best thing about the Ohio section is the fact that nothing gets taken personally-I've never had someone insult me with a comment (whether they seriously meant it or sarcastically). It's a lot different elsewhere...sometimes even the MS3 section right on this website can be tough!

So, I'm sort of new at this kind of stuff...but can someone tell me how to calculate my gas mileage since my tire size is now different?

Stock: 215/45 (96.75mm sidewall I think?)
I have: 225/35 (78.75mm sidewall I think?)

How does this affect my speedo, odometer, fuel mileage, etc... Speedo I can check with my GPS, but I just don't have enough knowledge about the rest!

I'm stuck at that...that is a huge difference, though! My Cooper Zeon ZPT's had a nice sidewall for being 215/45- actually filled the wheel gap nicely without a need to be lowered.

Thanks!

It depends on what kind of driving you do, city/highway, and where your engine is efficient. There's a lot that goes into calculations like this, I'd imagine. For example, a smaller tire will give you a shorter gear ratio (more acceleration), which could be helpful for around town mpgs, but be detrimental on the highway because of the higher engine speed.

It also depends on where your engine makes power, especially if your mods (assuming you have bolt ons, etc) change the power band. With shorter wheels, you may spend more or less time in your powerband. That would mean that you'd have to get heavier with your right foot to get the same acceleration that you're used to if you're spending time outside of the powerband. I hope you can see how complicated this can get. The tire calc that Phen linked gives a good estimate for your speedo.

BTW, this might be my first useful post on here.... (shrug)

Very useful, thanks! I just work up, but need to think about this a bit and determine what is happening now with my car. Thanks man!

James, this site can be your best friend when it comes to that...

Oh yeah...when my speedo says 60, I am only going 56.7mph. That explains why cars were built up behind me coming home yesterday...

It looks like 245/40 are the best tire size then...at 60 I would be going 60.2--not off much at all! And those would be beefy tires!

more random: every day I wake up and there is liquid running off my rear passenger tire...I wrote it off as my dog peeing on it.....looked under today and shock is leaking oil...new coilovers may be coming sooner than later.............
