The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Did it fix that weird chirping sound when you shift hard?

I haven't driven it yet, I just rowed the gears in my driveway, lol. I want to change my oil and filter again.. I didn't tell you yet, but after I changed it and put that stupid fram filter on my oil pressure dropped off a ton. At idle now the gauge reads 0 psi... It never even passes 30psi, so something is definitely goofy. I read up online about the gauge, and it's more of an oil pressure "indicator" than something that's actually accurate, but it was reading noticeably higher before I put this new filter on. For me at least, that's a bit too much of a coincidence.

And as usual, I don't have the tools at my house to change it...(dunno)

what tools do you need besides a wrench for the drain plug?

A jack/ramps and jackstands... I know, I've got the basic hand tools, just not the manly-lift-stuff-up tools.

Well I went out and drove the Miata. I mean I really drove it. I was so excited for the first half of the drive that I didn't get any of the chipping sound on the 2-3 shifts, but I was just getting my clutch foot on the floor better, and I was wearing my racing shoes/chucks, too.

Apparently the gear oil didn't appreciate me driving it, as it semi-exploded out of the reservoir towards the end of the drive. Hot gear oil is a very sickening smell... I don't think I put too much in, as I filled it the same as the picture in the guide had, but who knows if that's accurate.

I guess one of the benefits of the shift boot bolts getting broken off is that now with that baffle off the car really screams. It's got a hole in the exhaust right under that, too, and I think that eliminates all chance of conversation now. I was coasting down in 2nd and punched it at 4-4.5k rpms and it threw me into the seat with an absolutely righteous amount of force (for a 1.6). I freaking love my rust bucket.

I know a cat who lives close to you that doesn't mind other Mazda brothers using his tools. I mean, the guy is a total tool, but he does have a compressor and a lot of tools...

A tool with tools, I like it! And an empty garage bay, lol. I didn't want to invite myself, but if you're free, we can make this happen.

Who is your team?

im guessing it is the fudge packers. lol

Well... Getting ready to leave Ohio for a while. I'm sitting up here at Cleveland Hopkins Airport in the Great Lakes Brew Pub enjoying a nice morning drink, and waiting for my Breakfast. I figured that Great Lakes would be an ideal location for a send-off. Haha.

Anthony, if you want to see something really cool, there's a member on here that regularly auto-x's a Ford Country Squire Wagon. Can't remember his name tho.

good luck phen! have fun in china. the babes there will think your penis is HUGE! take advantage, but watch for the clap!

No empty bay (No way would Phen leave Lindsay at an airport parking deck for 3 months) but you're always invited over, man. Like I said, any of you cats want to come over and wrench on the weekends, you're more than welcome to. I'm usually working on something saturday and sundays since I lack a social life. All I ask is that you let me know in advance.

You'll hear the hole in my exhaust from a few streets down. Will that be enough notification?

you gotta love that
sean says we have an exhaust leak on our car...we drove to cleveland yesterday and tried playing music but the bass in the music and the sound of the exhaust were at the same pitch and it messed with our ears...so no music and we just had to listen to the loud drone...normally the car just sounds good, but now it is slightly annoying

Heh... yeah, but they don't serve Westernized Chinese food here.
