The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

i just started my month long break before classes start again sept. 22.

well took you guys advice and got the ipod connection... HOWEVER i found an even better deal with a grom unit that cost me about half of the price of the OEM one i was looking at :)

Did you need to have the ipod readout on the HU display? I just got a aux input cable for my Zen and I've been very happy with it for the time that I used it, and it cost like 3.24$ at Radioshak.

i bought a used Grom from a kid for 50 bucks, plug and play and i can control the ipod with the steering wheel controls so its all good... haha

Oh shoot I forgot you guys all got new stuff compared to my busted junk. The only controls I have on my steering wheel are the horn and cruise control...

Yeah, they never made a Mazdaspeed 626, though I'd like to make one with a frankenstein KL. It will be legit when I'm done some unspecified time in the future.

Lesson of the day, rusty bolts don't turn, they break. Fortunately the Miata is not harmed, I can now just see a lot more of the road from the cabin than before, lol. I went to check the fluid in the shifter thing (unsure of the terminology), and the front two bolts snapped off for the black shift boot? around it. Inserting pictures I found to save myself...

Yeah, there's no fluid in mine...

no cruise in the msp

would that just be tranny fluid? i have fwd so i have linkage under the shifter so i don't know for sure, but that's what it looks like

Yeah, the guy that did the writeup said he put 75W90 manual tranny fluid in the diff, too, so I guess that's what goes in there.

So I picked up some gear oil and filled up that little reservoir and wow, it made a world of difference. It now shifts much easier, faster, and quieter. It's such an improvement.

Good idea. (hand) I trust the internets too much... Yup, manual confirms it, says API Service GL-4 or GL-5, and then 75W90 is for -20 to 120+ degrees F, so that works, too.

You should always check multiple sources to verify info. ;)

Glad to hear it worked out for the best.
