The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Anyone change their own timing belt? I should probably change mine before next season starts, but have the lack of knowledge and maybe tools to complete the job. It doesn't look too hard, but I really don't want to F it up.

i did mine and it wasn't hard, getting the timing right is tricky. It would be a great time to do your other belts and water pump as well. I followed the how-to thread

As far as Mazdaspeed parts program, you can sign up for the program stating that you are building a car. If you have signed up, I ca follow up with head of the program, as I know him on a personal basis. I would actually re-apply and send in your times from the two events and will speak with Steve Sanders. For those who are going through the build process, sign up and I'll follow with him as well.

I should sign up and for the P5 since it's being built. I'm not sure if there are many Mazda parts left I would need but a discount of nuts/bolts helps too. :)

Josh has done his without any issues. Kevin has done his... twice. I did mine on the KL and Peaches did his on the BP so it's not too tough. I would say bring it over some weekend but I don't want to work in the freezing garage just yet. Maybe when it's warmer some weekend. If it's okay with Phen and Ivan, of course.

I'd talk to Kevin, he's an expert... (eyeballs) LOL

Wil do. I didn't plan on doing it right now, but maybe when spring rolls around. I just don't want it to go when I know it should be changed soon. I just hit 105k.

i entered for mazdaspeed motorsports development a while back but never submitted any results.

Might have found a winner http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.j...ype=b&cardist=114&standard=false&rdpage=thumb

After talking about the 6wagon with Amber she brought up the point that her SUV is the baby mobile so it wouldn't make sense to get a 6wagon, pay the extra money to get one, the extra in gas, and extra in insurance so I'm back to the p5 and maybe a protege sedan if I find a good one. It seems like it's easier to find a msp than a p5

As long as it doesn't involve me putting a car back together just so someone can use the space, I'm fine with it.

Nope. I would like to do most of the work myself. Just need a mentor. I like learning more about the mechanical aspects of car so I can work on it solo in the future in my parents garage. I can do body, suspension, and bolt ons, but tearing apart and correctly putting a motor or trans I know little about.

I meant that if the BMW is torn apart for something that I'm working on, and I'm going to have to put it together so that someone else can use the spot that it usually sits in, I would be a little upset. I know you would probably do most of the work.

happy new year all and hoping everyone is making it around ok today, or are phen and i the only ones stuck working?

is there such a thing as heated windshield wipers? i could've used them this am ...

crazy day, we get bouts of sunshine and clear skies and then total white out blizzard conditions, but total accumulations here in parma don't look like much and that works just fine for me!! after the van in front of me heading on to the on ramp to 90East spun out and hit the curb, all was well for me. (love my front wheel drive) highways were clear and no traffic ... i'm sure tomorrow will be another story when EVERYONE heads back to work. ugh.

Yeah, this morning was an easy drive. I'm getting ready to head home soon. I'm sure it's going to be an absolute delight.

And yes, a few German cars, as well as Volvo and Saab had heated wipers. Genius idea... too bad the cars they're on cost more than $50k.

Or you get a Subaru with defrost areas under the wipers.

I would never do that to you Phen. It's your guys garage 1st of all. If I had to do it outside that is fine with me.

Well, you can always get the parts together and we can do it in the side parking spots between the house and garage on a nice day in the spring, no worries. The compressor hose will reach and I'll just wheel my toolbox out. Just one condition, you bring some candy and a Sprite with you. haha

^Can do as long as I can bring a little somthing something to make 7-7's with it.
