The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I'm going for quieter and more reliable for now. I know stock works just fine so that's my reasoning. This gives me the option to mod later or if something like a red ms6 or say this guy

comes along I can just trade or sell the msp then sell the parts. I still haven't decided what to do with my camaro yet and that also plays a big factor in my future decisions.

The intake was because of the 'water-injestation' issues he was having, which I can totally understand.

^This.

Plus, I'm just realizing that these parts don't mean much on such a slow car to begin with. If it's not doing any good, then why have the parts? Performance wise at least, handling is another thing. But even then...I've been fine with the way the car handles, and I'm not going to be ripping around like a crazy once the baby comes, so why do I need to bump up the handling of the car? I'd like to make a track day or 2 next season, but even then, I don't need to spend a bunch of money on aftermarket parts to have a great time on the track.

I've been saying the whole time you guys have known me, I really don't care about modding cars at this stage in my life. The fact that I bought a car that was already modded was merely a bonus. I would've been perfectly happy with a bone stock P5....maybe a stereo and some other minor stuff. But no intake, exhaust, strut bar, rear sway, race pads, lowering springs, rims, etc.

The baby isn't even the main reason for the exhaust, it's been annoying us for a little while now. I spent about 8 hours in it this past Saturday, not a fun time. Thank god for the Bayer I brought with me. lol If I can get some extra loot for the kid, and help out fellow members (you know you'd probably have first dibs, Larry!) then it's all gravy to me.

nate there are a lot of sunlight silver parts i would vulture if given the opportunity...... and cf parts

Evan gets any first dibs, I still owe him for the ps pump. No parts for a little while though

So have you determined that you are somehow sucking water with your Cold air intake? I do remember you saying you were not interested in modding, so you getting rid of a few parts makes sense. Just pile up the parts you don't want and we can talk. I know performance mods for power on our cars is a waste. I can't justify my desire to mod, then again can anyone?

Well, whether they make a difference or not, modding is modding....and you have to do SOMETHING, right? Otherwise it's not called modding. haha

And performance parts DO make somewhat of a difference, why else would there be a market for them? Even if it's a few hp here and there, like Evan always says...every little bit helps.

I've had 3, what I'm convinced were, water issues due to my CAI. I'm going to try running a stock intake for a while, and see if the issue happens again.

Good luck, I hope it works out. Didn't I read in a thread somewhere there is a chance it could be a sensor of some sort that may be causing the issue, don't forget to address that while you are under the hood.

i know im only 18, but if it ever comes down to my car or a kid, ill choose my car. hell, now if it comes down to my car or a girl, i pick the car. And i let em know it. i said it to my last girlfriend, i say it to my current one, and ill tell it to my next one too.

It throws a Camshaft Position Sensor malfunction code of sorts when it does it. I'm convinced it's strictly a water thing though, unless it does it again with a stock setup. If it does, then I'll go searching elsewhere.

If you do it right, it's not an issue. Said by the guy that has 13 mo. old twins, converted the race car from Street Touring to Prepared spec while wifey was pregnant, and bought a motorcycle for Christmas.

You know I've never written it out like that, but holy s*** I'm dong it right!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..............

Kids these days. You're saying you'd abort your child, or just abandon he/she and the mother so you could play with your car?

ill just force myself infertile. id love a son in the future to live vicariously through, but there is no way i would trade my car in for something "practical". no way a damn kid is gonna ruin all my fun. she can trade whatever she drives for something practical. and god damn it im gonna race on the weekends.

So, Nate and I are doing it wrong then?

There's no right or wrong way here...it just means you have more money to blow on stuff, or less bills than us. Congrats cool guy! :)

Uh huh, lemme know how that works. I can't tell you how many of the folks I know had that attitude. And are now in SUVs & Minivans (rofl)

Oh, oh, but I'm sure that totally won't be you (rolleyes)

i like cars significantly more than girls. i only deal with girls if theyre down with my car and my racing and modifying. if they are like "thats stupid" then they can gtfo. and i say that. if they are like "oh thats soo cool! can i ride along some time?" then they get the D. i dont deal with girls that are controlling or s***. i am not gonna get married or enter a serious relationship unless that girl is ok with my obsession with cars.

lol that's not what I was saying at all, but if you want to get all butt hurt...

No, I'm saying that if it's THAT important to you, you'll find someone who understands that and is cool with it. You shouldn't have to choose, but you'll have to plan around it. If you want to race and have kids... er... you'll need a kid transporter. A 3 or a P5 should be fine once the seats are forward facing, but unless you have no legs when they're rear facing you'll need something bigger. And trust me, you don't want to be toting infants around in a modded compact car. At all. So, beating your chest and saying "that ain't me dawg" is ridiculous. Because I'm generally daily driving either a Jetta Wagon w/ a 2.slow or the Nissan Pathfinder. But if it's that important to you, you'll find a way to keep that in your life. That's all.

That, and I was a bit marveling at a few things I kinda take for granted (shrug)

I can agree!

lol im not beating my chest.

ask corey how he does it. he and april have a msp (modded) a mazda 2 and a cbr 250... and he gets to race. hes got it good.

You don't owe me anything, Nate. No worries, but thanks for first dibs. ;)

Even if it's a few hp here and there, like Evan always says...every little bit helps.

Truth! :D

AJ, I wish my GF had a younger sister to hook you up with. We don't want kids, she loves racing and lets me spend money on my car and even wants to help wrenching AND she's a musician with good taste in music. I'm a very lucky sucka. But I love kids, that's why I can't wait to be the cool Mazda Uncle Evan to you cats. I just am too selfish to want my own. But I'm not bashing anyone who wants/has kids, just to be clear. They're just too scary to me! Haha

lol i see where youre coming from. luckily i found a gorgeous girl who is interested in my car and cars in general, and wants me to teach her about them. seems promising. lol.
