The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Here is what I came up with since we lost VIR & LRP...

Guys, Lauri let me know that the schedule for Grand-Am is out and we have some major changes that have taken place for 2012. There will be no racing at Lime Rock Park and none @ VIR!!!! Going forward, we’ve added Belle Isle in Detroit, June 1-3, Indy, July 27-29 and we have yet to determine the last event of the year, September 28-30, 2012.

Here are some venues that I feel we can draw our NEPOC friends and family to, in lieu of LRP

1. New Jersey Motorsports Park May 11-13, 2011
2. The 6 Hours at the Glen

This two event will be cheaper than Lime Rock and Steve is working on getting us pricing and parade laps for New Jersey. The Glen will reasonably priced as well and we can get parade laps on a Friday. I will see if we can get a dedicated camping area for Mazda owners to see if we can get more Mazda’s owners to come out.

I am at a loss as far as our Carolina, Virginia and GA folks are concerned, with VIR not being on the schedule. I know that Barber has limited space for the number of cars that it allows for corrals and with our numbers form past VIR events, we would have to limit the number of Mazda owners that could attend. Mid-Ohio is an option, as we have had a number of these guys come out to our state for events. So with that in mind, please let me know what your thought are m before we present our corral list to John Doonan. I am listing the corrals that I feel we can have a decent number of Mazda owners.

1. Rolex 24-50th Anniversary- January 26-29, 2012
2. New Jersey Motorsports Park-May 11-13, 2012-Castrol Package?
3. Belle Isle-Detroit-June 1-3, 2012
4. Mid-Ohio-June 8-10, 2012-Castrol Package
5. Road America-June 22-24, 2012-Castrol Package
6. Sahlen’s 6 Hours at the Glen-June 29-July1, 2012
7. CTSC Mazda Laguna Raceway- September 7-9-Castrol Package

I'm a little surprised they didn't cut one of the races at the glen

No VIR! And I'll be on my honeymoon during the 6 hours of the Glen.

I'm glad that Mid-Ohio is back in June to be honest.

I'm up for Road America this year. I'll do whatever it takes to get off work and go up there with you guys. It sucks about LRP, though, because that was going to be my out-of-state trip this year. Boo.

I kind of wished they would've dropped NJMP and kept VIR. Other than that I'm pretty excited about the schedule.

Phen what about an indy race?

Problem with Indy is that it's Nascar weekend... which means 150,000 drunk rednecks all over the place. Makes it difficult to do a corral because there are so many people. It would be awesome if we could. May just be a little difficult.

i went every year until last year, the attendance has dropped dramatically. The track could easily have us all in one campground

Shut up. I was not crying. Shut up...

Ya know, I never liked that show when I was younger and they were new. Now I think they are pretty funny. Go figure.

I have the Beavis & Butt-head Experience playing right now, they just told the story about being on the bus with Anthrax. What did that little guy do to our photo album? lol

Had to deliver 8 cases of potatoes to a place called 'Fragapane Bakeries' today on Lorain Road in North Olmsted. It is a small, family-owned and operated bakery (which has excellent pastries and sub sandwiches, by the way). The one gentleman who helped me unload the potatoes looked at my car and asked, "do you race any?" I said, "I spend a lot of time at MidOhio, a road course....(I began explaining road courses because most people ask if that is where I just turn left in a circle...)" He replies, "I know exactly what you mean. My cousin is Michael Galati, driver of the Kinectic Motorsports Kia Forte in the CT Challenge series!"

Small world! Just up the street is a business called 'Galati Foreign Import Services'. Guess what? Owned and operated by said Michael Galati!

That's the only shop that could align my supa-slammed Civic. They are super cool there and did a great job.

ps- Thank you for telling me a story, Chippy. :)
