The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

^^^ Will you show me Saturday, Peaches? I'm pretty good on the other way but I wonder if I can make a wider brake pedal to help. And I need to use the dead pedal, my foot is always on the clutch pedal. I just got so used to downshifting all the time I just kept my foot on the clutch pedal when I'm driving. I've never burnt up a clutch though. But I remember an instructor at Mid-O said it's better to keep your left foot on the dead pedal to plant yourself into the seat around turns, which makes perfect sense.

Evan, would a brake pedal from an auto protege help out? not sure if it would fit with the clutch pedal but they are usually wide. I can hit both gas and brake in my car, must of the time comming to a stop light and not meaning to

MSM pedals probably won't fit because IIRC, the brake pedal is smaller than the Protege. Automatic pedal is way too wide and will hit the clutch pedal.

For my heel / toe, for each of my cars (including the Bavaria) I can roll from brake to gas. The Bavaria is the only car where I can actually turn my foot enough to do the full method.

I'll post this in different threads to make sure everybody sees it:

is everybody cool if I take your pictures of Mid Ohio and post them on my site for an update of the event?

So here's a quick question for the heel-toe downshifters. Which style do you use? The true heel on the throttle and toe on the brake OR the left side of the foot on the brake and roll to the throttle with the right side?

I use the latter but have a hard time reaching the throttle when wearing driving shoes. Just curious.

I think my feet are too big (Size 12.5) so I've never been able to heel-toe with my heel on the throttle and toe on the brake. I definitely prefer using the ball of my foot on the right half of the brake pedal and rolling my right side of my foot onto the throttle. I practiced this way on the street and was very successful with it on the track when I went to Beaverun. I might be addicted to it though...I still tend to do it on the street any time I have to slow down or downshift for a turn. I'm still improving though because it's not perfect yet.

Practice makes perfect. Not like you're hurting anything doing it on the street.

Yup that's definitely true. I do have to watch out sometimes when down shifting. I always make sure I look behind me to see if there's a car behind me. I make sure I put just enough pressure on the brake pedal to make the brake lights come on, that way the car behind me doesn't rear end me because he didn't notice my car slowing down lol.

I use to do it all the time, done it for years. Definitively good practice everyday. Another thing I do is whenever I drive an automatic, I always brake with my left foot, don't have a lot of chances to do that on the street

One thing I do whenever I drive an automatic is forget and try to put everyone in the car through the windshield when I slam down on the pedal with my left foot...

I've been accidentally putting too much brake pressure on when I try to blip the throttle, almost putting MYSELF through the windshield. LOL

So... I don't think it's a good thing when your boss leads into a discussion about your new project with "So, I'm not going to lie... this is kinda ****** up..."

Hmmm....I think you're right, that might not be a good thing.
