The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

the furnace keeps turning off, it's freezing in my apartment!

Congrats on the MSM, Kevin! I'd like a ride sometime fo sho. But you're not storing it at our house. Haha

red 2005? i thought 2005 was all lava orange and black... maybe some silver...

and i fixed my double post... this thread is terrible to me for that.

i was looking for a lava orange one for a long time...but no luck... and i'm doing some looking into for the production numbers and such
edit: found it -1288 12/3/2004, my car was the first off the line that day! :p

don't worry Evan, i'm getting another carport for the winter months so both of my cars can be save from the elements; the protege only for winter so i don't have to scrape her off all the time, and the msm all year-round! lol

...so stock the msm only has about 50-60 more whp than my protege and is nearly the same weight too... i think it really the turbo, 50/50 weight distribution, and rear wheel drive that - ok yeah the miata is a lot better, haha :)

Perhaps the most obscure detail change of the MazdaSpeed overhaul of the MX-5 was the fitment of a custom, lightweight oil dipstick. The 2004 Mazdaspeed MX-5 was only available in Velocity Red Mica and Titanium Gray Metallic while the 2005 model was available additionally in Lava Orange Mica and Black Mica. Of the 5,428 Mazdaspeed MX-5s produced during model years 2004 and 2005, 4,000 were produced in 2004; the 2005 production run was shortened to only 1428, due to a fire at the production facility.

that's from the all knowing Wikipedia... i'm sure it was the lightweight dipstick that really revolutionized the miata...lol

Wikipedia is updated and changed by a bunch of idiots who are like watching deaf people play musical chairs. Fun as hell to watch, but I wouldn't want to get involved in it.

Yours has to be a 2005 production model because mine is #2626 from 2004. (nice number I know) Nice find with a 2005 and such low numbers. It's a rare one indeed.

Even teachers love snow days! Stay safe out there everyone! Probably not the best day to take the Miata out, guys, although the news showed one flying by a snow plow this morning.

So what are your plans for the Miata and Protege now, Kevin? Are you going to return the Protege to stock and use it as your DD and work on the Miata instead?

Morning and congrats on the MSM Kevin. And another VRM is added to the mix....lol

I just got a call from work telling me I get to have the next 2 nights off. Thanks Mother Nature........b****!!!!!

so i kinda bought an '05 MSM on friday; bone stock, only 35000 miles!

...people look at you funny when you drive with the top down in this weather...lol

Haha congrats! What color?

Also, you don't have to do anything with the warranty, if you need expensive work done, it's always worth it to try to change some parts back to stock and take it in, unless you do a lot of work to it. My warranty just expired since I passed the 36k miles mark.

Hey Marlon and gang - I just finished reading an articel on this group of guys. I'm sure you guys will run into them this season at the races.

Great group of guys I know throught the Ferrari Club and an even better group of causes they support. Show them some support if you see them (not too much as they are a competitor lol)

Going to try and leave the Miata stock for as long as I can and I just have the coilovers and ssafc that i want to go in the protege and i'm done modding that car... except minor details and such. but i'll definitely be taking the protege on the track more than the miata.

Haha congrats! What color?
