The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

My reason is because i hate all of you.

lol! Once again, Jake from left field.

Forums are great for build threads. FB is great for lazy people who don't want to search. But if no one uses the forums I wonder if there won't be any build threads anymore?

ive been keeping my build thread up to date on here. figure maybe a few people will come across it and enjoy the read and the pictures haha

Exactly, pretty much all of us have a build thread on here and we all keep up to date on them since we're all friends. Well, i have to harass Martz to update his though.

I've been neglecting my build thread. Car's actually almost out of the body shop.

Speaking of wagons, the new VW 1.8 turbo with an APR stage I tune (boom08) 280 tq 230 hp at the wheels on 93 with just a tune.

I love the "tunes" you can get for VW's. I keep telling myself one day I'm going to drop money on a tune for the wife's TDI. 170+ hp, nearly 300 ft-lb, and 45 mi/gal sounds fun.

Certainly different from the world of Mazda. Would love to see if my wagon could break 200 whp with a tune on 93 and my CAI installed. I've read (with no support) you can get 20ish hp from the Injen intake. Thought about headers because that's where big gains are but I'm too cheap and worried about noise.

I think Marlon told me he was at 220ish with a CAI and headers and maybe a couple other things, can't remember if he mentioned a tune.

I never realized the V6 was that strong or responded to mods that well. I guess it's technically a Ford engine though. I don't know why all Mazdas don't seem to take well to mods. If I ever get fed up with the 13B in the RX7 it's getting replaced by a Toyota/Lexus V8.

But those are pretty much the only mods though. Unless you go custom. They do use it in the Noble kit cars and can get a lot of power out them.

Mazda engineered to the max already? and seem complicated to tune, at least the ones I pick.

We've been busy building arcs.

I hear ya!!! Thank goodness we have had a string of clear and sunny days here. Last week my street went from normal to flooded to normal in a 75 minute span. All was good until garbage cans clogged up the drains at the end of the street. Just like that my front yard was flooded and we had patches where water was running down our basement wall. If only the original owner of the house would have raised the foundation 6"!!!! Hope none of you got flooded out.

I have "build" thread but it's lame. And I don't do FB, never have and never will. lol

Nice! Going to go check it out to see if you've updated it.

That does sound like fun, too bad their customer service sucks!

C'mon now....you know it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. ;) That said, I was watching the TG vid of the 918 Spyder last night....would I would be an idiot to park a car that costs 4x as much as my house in my garage?

I think it's more like Mazda didn't over-engineer their engines. They were designed and built to make so much power and that was about it. The only room for improvement has always seemed to be their overly-rich (i.e. safe) air/fuel mixtures. I guess I can understand that though. If a platform needs 200 hp and 200 ft-lb why would you spend the money to design something to handle 300 hp and 300 ft-lb? Of course it gets weird when multiple platforms use the same engine (I'm looking at you, Ford).

Not much to see lately. Just sporadic pictures of the car at the body shop. I really haven't done much work myself in about 6 months. Of course this will change when I have the car back...

VW or the tuning houses? Corporate customer service is always awful; no denying that. Individual dealerships vary. This is why I drive 45 min. to get ours serviced. Although I will say for as much crap as VW gets we've had zero reliability issues with our 5 year-old Jetta TDI with 80k miles.

I check it out when I lurk here and there. Saw the painted pics from the shop and have to say that I like the orange!

VW Corp, I have no experience with tuning houses. Must be something with dealerships within close proximity to your home as we had nothing but issues when getting service at our local dealer. Glad to hear you have had no issues and may that continue.

That makes more sense for Mazda.

Ford and GM. I think GM was the worst. Let's see how many cars we can put one engine in! Their 3.8 while a good motor was stuffed in every car they could possibly get it in to in the 90's and 00's.

I have a soggy spot I can't mow yet. My neighborhood had some flooding but I'm towards the top of the hill so no worries about that and no flooding in my basement.

I think 200 whp is still a slow car :) Plus there's more a lot more weight than I had with the MSP

Depends on the car. Phen rand i believe ran 13.7 with only like 170whp in the MSM in the quarter... im shooting to tune it around 220-230 and after driving Shawn Mellingers similarly tuned MSM, 200whp in a miata makes it quite a handful haha

It's on my to do list to make a maintenance thread for the wagon...
Speaking of wagons, the new VW 1.8 turbo with an APR stage I tune (boom08) 280 tq 230 hp at the wheels on 93 with just a tune.

LOL, speaking of VAG cars, i was looking at a new Audi S4 and stock they have ~330hp 325 tq, with the APR Stage 2 Tune, and Supercharger Pulley power is bumped up to 455hp, 395tq... thats some seriously good power gains for like $1800 bucks.

I think were in agreement I just didn't say it the right weigh. My wagon is heavy so 200 whp still makes it a slow car.

It's like magic. The 1.8 has a stage 2 and all you add is their downpipe and your in for $1300, intake optional and it could do some but hurt to some MS3 owners. The GTi even more so.

Ive yet to lose to a stock turbo vw (Apr or not) since i got my car. Butthurt Impossibru

Dat corn doe! The MS3'r with just the intake thinking they have the greatest car EVAR! he might get but hurt.

I said since I got my car... ;)

I didn't get a custom tune til last year on the stock turbo. No corn til after lime rock last year, no big turbo til middle of December last year. And I've had the car 3 years almost
